A Brief Guide to Handwriting Analysis
By Donna Hambright
What is Graphology?
Graphology is the scientific study of the unique
components of an individual’s handwriting.
Handwriting analysis is a recognized area of
forensic science.
A certified graphologist is trained to testify in a
court of law in cases of signature or document
fraud, and in criminal investigations.
Graphologists earn $100+ per hour.
A professional graphologist does not claim to
be psychic, nor does he or she try to “tell
fortunes.”
Graphological Cues
Slant = emotional gauge/social personality
Zones = philosophical nature/physical nature
Individual letter formations = individual
traits
Pressure on paper = intensity of emotions
Margins and spacing = social boundaries
Baseline = moods
Size and Details = ego strength, attitudes
toward self image, self-esteem, power of
concentration
Directions for handwriting
analysis in this introductory
exercise:
1.Observe graphological cues: slant,
zones, margins, and the letters y, t,
o.
2. Make a list of inferences based on
these graphological cues.
3. In a paragraph, write an
explanation of your impressions of
personality traits.
Slant = Emotional Gauge
Slant indicates the emotional
temperament.
