HOW TO KNOW
WHEN A DRAWING
IS FINISHED?
1. Know your goal
for the drawing
2. Use a self-
evaluation process
1. Know your goal
for the drawing
2. Use a self-
evaluation process
3. Does it look
good in person and
on the computer?
4. Does it look like
the reference
photo?
5. You just do not
know what else to
do with it
What are the three most
common uses for image
files?
-Web Production Formats
-Print Production Formats
-Video Production Formats
Web Production Formats
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)- common for digital
camera
GIF (Graphic Interchange Format) - it only supports a limited
number of colors
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) - It uses lossless
compression and supports transparency.
Print Production Formats
Raster Image ( Pixel- based graphics)
PSD (Photoshop document) It is a format that
can maintain the editing capabilities of the drawing.
TIFF or TIF (Tagged Image File Format) a
common bitmap image format. High-quality images
Vector Images
EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) - may
contain both vector and bitmap data
Photoshop PDF Photoshop (Portable
Document Format) files are extremely versatile,
as they may contain bitmap and vector data

PRIMARY STORAGE
also known as main memory. Main
memory is directly or indirectly
connected to the central processing
unit via a memory bus. It continuously
reads instructions stored there and
TYPES of main memory
RAM (Random Access Memory) is a
form of computer memory that can be
read and changed in any order,
typically used to store working data
and machine code.
ROM (Read Only Memory) this
memory was used as the computer
begins to boot up. This memory cannot
CLASSIFICATION AND TYPES OF
COMPUTER STORAGE DEVICES:
SECONDARY STORAGE
It is not directly accessible by the
CPU. Computer usually uses its
input/output channels to access
secondary storage and transfers the
desired data using intermediate area in

HARD DISK
the main, and usually
largest, data storage device
in a computer. It can store
anywhere from 160
gigabytes to 2 terabytes

Optical Disc is any storage media that
holds content in digital format and is
read using a laser assembly is
considered optical media.
Blu-ray (BD) Compact Disc (CD) –
Digital Versatile Disc (DVD)
CLASSIFICATION AND TYPES OF
COMPUTER STORAGE DEVICES:
TERTIARY STORAGE
Typically, it involves a robotic
mechanism which will mount (insert)
and dismount removable mass
storage media into a storage device
TYPES of tertiary memory
Magnetic Tape
A magnetically coated
strip of plastic on which
data can be encoded.
Tapes for computers are
similar to tapes used to
store music.
tertiary memory
Off-line Storage Also known as
disconnected storage. It is a computer
data storage on a medium or a device
that is not under the control of a
processing unit. It must be inserted or
connected by a human operator before
a computer can access it again.
MEMORY CARD, FLOPPY DISK, ZIP
DISK, FLASH MEMORY

Online and Cloud Storage is now becoming
widespread as people access data from different
devices.
Cloud storage – Data is managed remotely and made
available over a network. Basic features are free to use
but upgraded version is paid monthly as a per
consumption rate.
Audio, Video, Images or Text that are used on a
CRITERIA FOR THE SELECTION OF FINISHED
WORK TO BE STORED
Determining the criteria of the selection of
work for storage is very much important to
preserve the value of finished work. The
different criteria for finished work may include
archival values, available space, personal
affinity to the pieces of work, quality of work,
uses of work and usefulness in the future.
A. Archival values
