WHAT IS A RECORD?

• It is an official written account of


the school and classroom activities.
WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP
RECORDS?
• record keeping should provide a
useful basis from which reports to
others can be made e.g. the pupils
themselves, parents and other
teachers.
•Records are a testimony that you
are doing your work.
•To communicate information to
other teachers.
•To ensure continuity of education
throughout the school.
• To ensure continuity of education
on transfer to other schools.

that pupils are making.

that remedial teaching can be

THE ATTENDANCE REGISTER

•The attendance register is required


by regulation but it is also helpful to
the Head.
• Kept by the class teacher who
should mark the register each time
they go for a lesson.
•The register should have the
admission or registration numbers
for each student, names, week
ending dates, days in the week and a
summary of how the students attend
on each day.
SOCIAL RECORD

•Contains confidential information


for every student. It should record
the student’s name, gender ,parent
/guardian details, home address,
distance from school, health, cell no
of parent/guardian, hobbies and so
on

PROGRESS RECORD
•consists of marks achieved by
pupils during the term as the work is
covered.
•is designed to show the progress
each pupil is making every week.
•Progress records are, therefore,
mark schedules that you prepare and
the marks that you enter after
marking pupils’ exercise books and
practical assessment.
•The marks are compiled from
individual exercises and the tests
that you give.
•Entries should be complete.
•Avoid leaving blank spaces or
dashes (-) on your progress record.
•The progress record should show
names, topic of work given,
possible mark ,actual mark and date
when the test or exercise was
written
REMEDIAL RECORD
•Remedial teaching is when a
teacher teaches the lesson in order
to help slow learners make up for
what they did not understand
during normal teaching and
learning time.
• It is designed for students with
identified deficiencies
•It provides individualised
instruction to learners with learning
difficulties
•Remedial teaching is corrective and
compensatory
•It is academic upgrading
•It is assigned to assist students in
order to achieve expected
competencies in core academic
skills such as literacy and numeracy
•The teacher uses extra hours after
school.
•Treatment strategies should include
provision of specific examples,
actual experiences where applicable.
