Policies and Procedures Review
Objectives 1. I will be able to discuss and restate classroom procedures by answering questions through think-pair-share structures. 2. I will be able to apply and give examples of appropriate classroom procedures by completing a Procedures Quiz. Students are expected to do the following things to make sure the classroom runs smoothly: 1. Attend class, and arrive on time. 2. Have materials ready when class begins. 3. Listen when others are speaking. 4. Follow directions the first time they are given. 5. Get permission before speaking. 6. Be polite and respectful toward each other. 7. Stay on-task and focused. 8. Refrain from disruptive questions, comments and/or behaviors. 9. Stay seated until the end of the lesson. 10. Be kind and respectful. Entering the Classroom Procedures 1. Enter the room and find your assigned seat. 2. Get your notebook and honor card out and be seated. 3. Write the correct paper format heading in your notebook. 4. Read the bell work assignment posted on the board and start working. 5. If you finish the bell work assignment early, work on something else quietly. 6. Quietly, patiently wait for instruction. 7. Hand Signals 4 Strikes Policy ● All students will be held to the 4-strikes policy. Students will receive strikes when procedures and expectations are violated. ● Strikes 1-2 are warnings. ● Strike 3 will be a phone call home to parent. ● Strike 4 will be an automatic office referral. ● Strikes will start over weekly. *After a few weeks, strikes will be reduced by 1. Notebook and Paper Heading MLA Format Your Name Your Teacher's Name Your Assignment The Date Paper Heading Format Paper Heading Format Homework ● ALL homework assignments must be completed ON TIME. ● ANYTHING you do not finish in class, including our Bell Ringer work, is homework. Student Pink Slip! This is for students who do not have the assigned homework. ● Fill it out. ● Sign and date it. ● Turn it in with the homework papers. Late Work ● All late work must be turned into the late work basket. ● Late Journal Assignments: -5% per day late, up to -50% (until the end of the quarter) o Late journal work must be turned in on a separate sheet of paper. Journals must be available for classwork, so please do not turn in journals on non-collection days. o Students absent on collection days must talk to me after class to schedule a good time for me to collect and grade their journal. ● Late Classroom Assignments: -10% per day late, up to -50% (until the end of the quarter) Late Work ● YOU are responsible for ALL missed work. ● Please mark the day you were absent in your journal and make sure to make up the missing work when you return. How to Make-up Work Take notes from the green homework crate. OR Go to _________ and find the missed work in the assignment calendar. Missed Tests and Quizzes ● Tests and Quizzes will need to be made up during lunch/recess or after school. YOU are responsible for scheduling this with Ms. Conley. Levels of CONVERSATION… 0= Silent! No talking 1= Whisper 2= Conversation with partner 3= Teacher voice 4= Outside voice Getting out of your seat... ● Please wait until the end of a lesson to throw away papers and other garbage. ● During a lesson, raise your hand to get out of your seat for emergencies only. ● Requests to use the bathroom, see the nurse or other staff member, or anything that is not an emergency must wait until the lesson is over and it is student work time. Table Points ● Points will be given when tables are quietly seated with agendas, honor cards, and social studies notebooks out within the first few minutes of class. Students must also have the Bell Ringer paper heading written and the activity started. ● Points will be given for exemplary participation and on task behaviors. Table Points ● For every 5 table points, students at table will receive a positive. ● For every 10 points, students will receive a positive and a raffle ticket to win ● Students with exceptional work and continuous good behaviors will earn opportunities for free homework passes, prizes and/or a raffle ticket.
● Students with referrals under the severity clause in my
classroom may not be eligible for raffle item. ● Failing students will not be eligible to win raffle item. Severity Clause
● Any student who uses profanity, fights,
threatens, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), bullies a student or the teacher, exhibits blatantly disruptive behaviors, or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY. Contacting Ms. Conley
