Grammar—Simple Past Tense

 一般过去时用來談論以前完成的動作。持續多久並不重要,動作的發生時間可能是不久之前或很久以前。

 例如:” I played basketball yesterday.”


我昨天打了籃球。

 明確的時間點: last week, when I was a child, yesterday, six weeks ago
We saw a good film last week.

 不明確的時間點: the other day, ages ago, a long time ago


People lived in caves a long time ago.

 一般過去時的構成

 規則動詞在一般過去時的型態為直接加 +ed

 在變成疑問句的時候奉行的規則口訣 --“ 有情用情,有 be 用


be ,無情無 be 請求助”

一般過去時還有很多不規則動詞,以下是幾個最常用的不規則動詞。

1) 表示勸告,建議和命令,意思為“應該” : 2) 表示推測 :

 should( 客觀推測,“可能” )

 must ( 主觀推測,“一定” )

Grammar— relative clause

Relative clause :關係子句,是一種子句,用來修飾名詞或名詞短語,並且往往由關係詞 (relative


pronoun) 來開頭,例如 who, whom, whose, that, which 等。關係子句可以放在主句之
前或之後。

例如:
The woman who is standing at the front is my teacher.
( 站在前面的那位女士是我的老師。 )

The book, which I just read, is very interesting.


( 我剛讀的那本書很有趣。 )
Grammar— relative clause

通常依照位置的不同,可分為主動式的關係子句和被動式的關係子句。主動式的關係子句是指主詞和賓語在動
詞之間,而被動式的關係子句是指主詞和賓語在動詞之後。

例如:

The man who wrote this book is a famous author.


( 寫這本書的男人是著名的作家。 ) 主動式

The book which was written by the man is a bestseller.


( 由那個男人寫的書是暢銷書。 ) 被動式

關係子句可以讓句子更加詳細和結構化,也能夠更清楚地表達關係。
