3. What is the scale of Temperature in Degree Celsius?
4. What is the scale of Temperature in Degree
Fahrenheit?
OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the lesson the students will be
able to…
1. Define current, voltage and resistance.
2. Infer the relationship between voltage,
current and resistance.
Activity 2: Unlocking the topic!

RESISTANCE
Ohm’s Law
Ohm’s Law
Electric current (I) is the rate of flow of electric
charges from one point to another in a circuit. It
measured in Amperes (A). One ampere is a rate of flow
to 1 coulomb of charge per second. Measures the
amount of current is called Ammeter

Voltage (V) is what makes a current move. Measures

by Voltmeter
Ohm’s Law
Electrical Resistance (R) is the opposition to the
flow of current by the conducting wire. The electrical
resistance of the wire depends on its thickness, length,
and conductivity. Electrical resistance is measured by
ohms (Ω), named after Georg Simon Ohm.
Note: In a simple circuit, voltage is directly proportional to current.
Its proportionality constant is R= Resistance.
Ohm’s Law
Example:
Find the resistance in kΩ of a
single motor horn if it has a voltage Solution: Ohm’s Law: V = I R
of 6 V and current of 2 A.
Given: Voltage (V)= 6 V
Current (I) = 2 A Ω
Required: Resistance (R)
QUIZ TIME
I. DIRECTION: Solve the following problems applying Ohm’s
Law (5 points each).
1. A light bulb operates with a voltage of 120 volts and draws
a current of 0.5 amps. What is the resistance of the light
bulb?
2. A battery provides a voltage of 24 volts, and a resistor
connected to this battery allows a current of 2 amps to flow
through it. Determine the resistance of the resistor.

3. In an electrical circuit, the total voltage supplied
is 9 volts and the current flowing through the
circuit is 3 amps. Calculate the resistance of the
circuit.
4. If a circuit has a resistance of 40Ω and a current
of 4 A, what is its voltage?
5. What is the electric current if a circuit has a
resistance of 12Ω and voltage of 100 V?

answer it correctly (3 points each).

1. What is Ohm’s law states?

2. If the resistance in a circuit remains constant but the
voltage is doubled, what will happen to the current?
3. What is the relationship of voltage to current to
resistance?
