METHODOLOGIES AND
APPROACHES OF
COMMUNITY ACTION
IMPORTANT?
Methodologies and Approaches of
Communty Action are important because they
provide a framework for individuals or groups
within a community to work together effectively
and achieve their common goals.
They provide a systematic way for community
members to identify and adress issues that are
important to them, while ensuring that everyone
has a voice in the decision-making process.
COMMUNITY ACTION

-refers to the process of


individuals or groups within a
community working together
to achieve a common goal or
address a shared issue.
Methodologies and Approaches
that can be used to facilitate
community action
1.COMMUNITY ORGANIZING
This methodology involves the process of
mobilizing community members to take collective
action on issue of concern.
This typically involves identifying community
leaders,building relatonship,and engaging in
collective action of social change.
2.ASSET-BASED COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT
This methodology emphasizes the
identification and mobalization of community’s
existing assets,such as its people, institutions, and
resources, to adress community issues.
This approch seeks to build on the strengths
of a community rather than focusing solely on its
deficits.
3. PARTICIPATORY ACTION RESEARCH
This methodology involves community
members in all stages of the research process,
including problem identification, data collection,
analysis, and dissemenation.
Participatory Action Research seeks to
empower community members by giving them an
active role in the research and decision-making
process.
4. COMMUNITY-BASED PARTICIPATORY
PLANNING
This methodology involves community
members in the planning and decision-making
process for community development projects.
Community-Based Participatory Planning
seeks to ensure that community members have a
voice in the decisions that affect their lives and that
community development projects reflect the needs
and priorities of the community.
5. SOCIAL MARKETING
This methodology involves the use of marketing
techniques to promote social change.
Social marketing seeks to influence behavior by
promoting ideas,attitudes,and behaviors thet benefit
the community as a whole.
These methodologies are not mutually exclusive
and can be used in combination to achieve community
action goals.The choice of methodology will depend on
the specific needs and goals of the community and the
resources available to support community action.
