Link Until It's Lit.

The group will examine and link these

switches using a marker to draw a
schematic of a bulb being controlled
in three locations using the teacher's
example of two three-way switches,
one four-way switch, and a bulb
placed on the board.
Installing lighting
fixtures/switches
(Three way switch)
Specific Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learners are
expected to:
1) Interpretelectrical plans and schematic diagram;
2) Explain the importance of using a three-way
switch; and
3) Install lighting fixtures/s in different locations
using a three-way switch.
Vocabulary List
Two-way – another term for three-way switch. There is
another switch controlling the same light.

Intermediate switch – used when you have three or

more light switches controlling one light. Another term for
4-way switch

Terminal – part of a switch used to electrically connect

the switch to the circuit it is controlling.
Travelers – these are wires run between
the two 3-way switches, offering two potential
pathways to complete the circuit.

Tracks – a path of the traveler in a four-

way switch that doesn’t make contact when
switched
3 way switch

A switch that is used to control a

load in 2 location
Where it is used?
•Hall way
•Stair way
•Large rooms
•Bed room

PRACTICE 1
Will it light or not?
PRACTICE 2
Analyzing Connection.
Look at the installed wiring devices. Test,
evaluate, and assess its installation.

Test if it’s functional or Not.

If it’s functional explain why it’s functional. And if it’s NOT,
troubleshoot and explain where the problem is.
EXERCISE for MASTERY

DIAGRAMMING

Create/draw a diagram on a piece of paper

using the job given by the teacher. (The job may
be given in written form or as an electrical
diagram)
GROUP 1. 2 bulbs controlled in 2 locations.

GROUP 2. 3 bulbs controlled in 2 locations using

GROUP 3. 4 bulbs controlled in 3 locations

GROUP 4. 1 bulb controlled in 2 locations and 1 bulb controlled by s1

Practical Applications

Have seen this three-way connection

in any of your stays weather it is in a
hotel, etc.?
Practical Applications

Can you think of a building/specific

area that you visited that would
benefit using these switches?
Generalization

The most important thing you

have learned from our lesson
is___

I have realized that when installing

lighting fixtures and
switches______

bond paper. Include the four-way switch in at
least one section or area of your plan.
Floor Layout 20
Able to draw a floor plan with correct symbols.
Able to include scaling and dimensions.
Able to label parts (bathroom, living room, etc.)

Electrical Symbols 20
Able to draw correct electrical symbols of outlets,
switches, lights, and electrical fixtures.

Electrical devices Placement 20

Able to place electrical devices correctly based on the
PEC. (Placement, number of outlets, switches, etc.
should be based on PEC)

4-Way integration 40
Able to integrate a 4-way switch effectively.
