Introduction

 The main purpose of this document is to describe the structure choices made for the implementation of SAP. The

structures chosen must represent the company in its complexity but remain as simple as possible in order to facilitate

the management of master data and flow data. They must also be compatible with logistical and operational needs,

reporting requirements and internal control needs.

Goals

• Simplify Master data management

• Establish a coherent structure with direct relationships between its components.

Client

 The Client is a Commercial, Organizational unit within the SAP system, with its own data, master records, and a

set of tables.

 Examples of Client-specific data includes:

• User Master data- such as parameters, authorization, and user groups

• Customizing data such as organizational units, assignments, and document types

• Application data- such as business transaction data and material master data

 Company Code

The Company Code is the smallest Organizational unit for which you can have an independent accounting

department within external accounting.

 Company Code – Purpose

Balance sheets and Profit and Loss statements, required by law, are created at company code level. In one client

several company codes can be maintained in order to manage various business activities simultaneously, each

with their own chart of accounts and balance sheet.

 Purchasing Organization

• A Purchasing Organization is an organization level that negotiates conditions of purchase with vendors for one

or more plants. It is legally responsible for completing purchasing contracts.

• The purchasing organization is responsible for the company's purchasing requirements.

• Purchasing Organization can either be at company code level or Plant level.

• This means that you can determine whether purchasing is organized centrally or de-centrally in your company.

You can have a combination of both.

 Purchasing group

• The purchasing organization is further subdivided into purchasing groups (buyer groups), which are responsible

for day-to-day buying activities.

• Often used to identify individual buyers

• Used for reporting

Introduction

 SAP S2S Organizational Structure is used to represent the legal and organizational structure of the company. The
organizational structures form a framework according to which the whole business runs.
The organizational structure in Material management consists of the following levels:
 Company Code
 Plant
 Storage location
The organizational structure in Extended Warehouse Management consists of the following levels:
 Warehouse number
 Storage type
 Storage section
 Storage bin

Material Management

 Company code

A company code represents an independent unit within a client. Each company code maintains its own balance

sheet and its own profit and loss statement.

 Plant

A plant is an operational unit in a company code. In SAP, the plant is a broad term depending on the functionality.

As in Material management, it is referred to as a facility where materials are stored, and inventory is maintained.

Whereas in the Production planning module, it is referred to as a facility where materials are produced.

 Storage location

A storage location is an organizational unit where stocks are kept physically, and inventory is maintained. A plant

can consist of multiple storage location which differentiates between different materials are stocked in a plant.

Extended Warehouse Management

 Warehouse Number:

A physical warehouse where goods are stored which is assigned to a storage location. A warehouse number can be

assigned to multiple storage locations in a plant or different plants.

 Important parameters defined at Warehouse Number level:

• Weight Unit, Volume Unit and Time Unit

• Various determination procedures for palletization data and

Extended Warehouse Management

 Storage Type:

A physical or logical subdivision of Warehouse which represents a storage space, storage facility or storage zone.

 Storage Section

A storage section is an organizational subdivision of a storage type. It joins storage bins that

have similar attributes. This information is then used during the putaway process.

 Storage Bins

A storage bin is the smallest addressable unit of space in a warehouse and it represents the

exact position in the warehouse at which a product can be stored.

 The organizational structure in SAP stream presents the main levels of the business process. An organizational
unit serving to subdivide an enterprise according to the requirements of each stream.
 This organizational structure contains the legal, physical and/or commercial operations of the company.
In the present document we will focus on the In2Rep stream and its components:

 Planning plant.
 Maintenance plant.
