 The Definition of Descriptive Text
 Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose
is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing.
 In a broad sense, description, as explained by Kane (2000: 352), is defined like in
the following sentence:
• Description is about sensory experience—how something looks, sounds, tastes.
Mostly it is about visual experience, but description also deals with other kinds of
perception.
 Generic Structure of Descriptive Text
There are some generic structures (actually not mandatory)
for our writing to be true. The arrangement is :

Identification: (contains about the introduction of a person, place, animal or

object will be described.)
Description: contains a description of something such as animal, things, place or
person by describing its features, forms, colors, or anything related to what the
writer describes.

 Language Feature of Descriptive Text
 Specific participant: has a certain object, is not common and unique (only one).
for example: Bandengan beach, my house, Borobudur temple, uncle Jim
 The use of the adjective (an adjective) to clarify the noun, for example: a
beautiful beach, a handsome man, the famous place in Jepara, etc.
 The use of simple present tense: The sentence pattern used is simple present
because it tells the fact of the object described.
 Action verb: verbs that show an activity (for example, run, sleep, walk, cut etc.)
There are several ways to use descriptive writing in your text.
We’ll cover a few of them below and provide examples :
 Engage senses by using details.
Adding specific details helps your readers visualize what you’re writing about.
The bakery smelled good.
 As soon as I walked into the bakery, I was greeted by the warm, intoxicating air of freshly baked cookies.
 Use precise synonyms.
Some words are more accurate than others and can help you better portray what you’re writing about.
She wore a red dress.
 She wore a scarlet-colored dress.
 Use metaphors, similes, personification, or other figures of speech.
Figures of speech can make your writing more relatable and easier to understand.
I was excited.
 I felt like a young boy on Christmas morning getting ready to open all his presents.
 CACTI
Cacti are plants of the family of Cactaceae. They are native to America but are also found

in Africa and Madagascar. They are medium, large or small in size. Inside they contain a

large volume of aloe as a reserve of liquid since they are plants found in desert climates

(dry).

These cacti have attractive, solitary and hermaphrodite flowers, that is, unisexual. Its size

varies according to each species. Thus, you can find large cacti (more than 2 meters) as

small (a few centimeters).

 H1N1
The H1N1 virus is a type of virus that is transmitted by contact with saliva, the air or by
ingesting any product of animal origin that has been in contact with or has been a carrier of this virus.
The H1N1 virus has mutated into different subtypes such as the Spanish flu or the avian flu or
the bovine flu. This resurgence of the virus and its variants is believed to have similarities to the
influenza virus that appeared in 1918.
The current strain was introduced again to the world population in 1970 causing, since then,
great complications from the point of view of health and a large number of deaths (more than 29,000
worldwide). Between the two strains (the 1918 and the 1970) there is only a difference of 25 or 30
amino acids of the 4,400 that make up the virus. For this reason it is considered a resurgence (or new
strain) of that virus.
 The Rental of Property
The apartment has 95 It has a northeast orientation overlooking the main garden of
the building. It has 4 bedrooms, a living room, a breakfast room and covered garage.
The apartment is spacious, bright, with a view of the 4 cardinal points as it has large
windows to take advantage of natural light. The services that are included with the rental

As for the amenities that can be used, the building has a terrace, an indoor pool and a
gym. All these services can be used by tenants or owners prior coordination of days and

 Mount Bromo
Identification
Bromo is one of mountains in Java that is known around the world. As one of the special tourism places in Java.
Bromo Mountain is not only rich of its natural beauty but also in harmony with the local people around it.
In Bromo, the visitors can enjoy both the beauty of the nature and also the culture in that area because Bromo is not
simply a mountain but also an important place for ritual ceremony of Hindu.
Description
Located around 2,5 hours from Malang city, Bromo is one of active volcano mountain which is a part of the
Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.
The beauty of Bromo can be seen clearly from the top of Penanjakan Mountain which is close to Bromo and has higher
level (2,770 meters). Bromo itself is only 2,392 meters.
Even though Bromo is not too high volcano mountain, but the history of the eruption was so dramatic. The sands
around it which people called the sea of sands (segara wedi) are the proof that this mountain had ever been killing the
life surrounded that area.
The name of Bromo is taken from the name one of the God of Hindu, Brahma.
People of Tengger has a myth about that mountain that makes it has mystical nuance. But it is more than myth as long
as people still believe that by creating Kasada festival every year, they express their gratitude to God in a symbolic way
by throwing vegetables, cattle, and also money as an offering in the Bromo’s crater.
 Taylor swift
Taylor Alison Swift or more popular with Taylor Swift was born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, USA at 13
December 1989. She is a music country singer. She is also my inspiration and role model. Taylor Swift loves to sing
since childhood. Her first song is “Lucky You” which she wrote while still sitting in school. Taylor Swift likes to sing
while playing the guitar. Her appearance and performance are simple but charming. On concert, she usually using a
short dress and carrying a guitar. She always sings with relaxing and soulful.
Taylor Swift is very beautiful. She is tall and her skin is white, her eyes is blue. Her nose is sharp, she has curly
hair, and its color is blond. Taylor Swift won many awards such as Album of the Year for Fearless, as well as Best
Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song for “White Horse”. She also is the Best Female Pop Vocal
Performance for “You Belong with me”.
Taylor has taught me many things such us to be fearless, to always fight for our dreams no matter what, to know
that if I’m different that’s a good thing and I don’t have to change that, to be myself, to never give up on my dreams.
 Beach Parangtritis
Beach Parangtritis is fairly well-known attractions in Yogyakarta in addition to other objects
such as Samas beach, Baron, Kukup, Krakal and Glagah. Parangtritis has a uniqueness that is not
found in the views of other attractions besides the big waves are also the existence of mountains of
sand around the beach, which is usually called dunes. This attraction has been managed by the
Bantul pretty well, ranging from lodging facilities and markets selling souvenirs Parangtritis.
In Parangtritis There are also ATV, horse & carriage horses can be rented for up the coast from east
to west. In addition, Parangtritis also a place for air sports.
