WORKS INVOLVED DURING INTERNSHIP
TRAINING PERIOD

1. SHUTTERING WORK
• Shuttering work includes both formwork and false work. Formwork is a mould or
open box, like container into which fresh concrete is poured and compacted.
• When the concrete is set, the formwork is removed, and a solid mass is produced
in the shape of the inner face of the formwork.
• False work is the necessary support system that holds the formwork in the correct
position.
• The top of the formwork is normally left open.
• Generally shuttering involves three major stages, i.e. column shuttering, beam
shuttering and slab shuttering.
• In column shuttering, plywood is used as the moulding material and in beam
shuttering plywood and supporting jacks are used.

2. REINFORCEMENT & CONCRETING
• It involves arranging steel bars within the column, Beam & Slab formwork
according to structural drawings and specifications.
• This ensures proper reinforcement to withstand the anticipated loads and provide
structural integrity to the Building.
• Concrete of M25 Grade is used in Slabs & Beams and M30 Grade is used in
columns

3. CURING
Curing involves maintaining adequate moisture and temperature conditions to
facilitate hydration and strengthen the concrete over time
• Curing of slabs and beams shall be achieved by ponding only, for a period of 7
days.
• Curing of footing tops, RCC walls, columns and external beam faces shall be
done by covering them with gunny bags or hessian and keeping wet constantly
for complete curing period of 7 days.

4. DESHUTTERING

• De-shuttering refers to the removal of formwork from around the cured concrete slab
after it has achieved sufficient strength
