• Measurement is the process of associating numbers
with physical quantities and phenomena. You have
learned the following measurements:
• Length is a measure of distance.
• Weight is the measurement of the pull of gravity on
an object while mass is a measure of how heavy an
object is.
• Volume is the amount of space an object contains
or occupies.
• Capacity is the amount of matter, usually liquid,
which a container can hold.
• Time describes how long it takes to do something.
• Temperature is the measure of hotness or
coldness of an object.

• 3. VOLUME/ CAPACITY
• Volume is the amount of space an object contains or
occupies. The volume of a container is the capacity of the
container. This is measured by the number of cubic units or
the amount of fluid it can contain and not the amount of
space the container occupies. The base SI unit for volume is
the cubic meter (m3). Aside from cubic meter, another
commonly used metric unit for volume of solids is the cubic
centimeter (cm3 or cc) while the commonly used metric units
for volume of fluids are the liter (L) and the milliliter (mL).

temperature
• Temperature is the measurement of the degree
of hotness or coldness of an object or substance.
It is measured in Celsius and Fahrenheit.

degrees Fahrenheit. What is the temperature in
degrees Celsius?
• 2. Henry heard from the news that temperature
now in NCR is about 34 degrees Celsius. Convert
