What have you been asked to do?

You must answer the question using 3000 words; Argument from published academic:
Your task
 Talent Management is is the integrated and results-orientated process of recruiting, selecting, developing, motivating
and retaining employees’ Dressler (2024)

 Choose an internationally known company (MNC) who’s business thrived during the COVID-19 Pandemic

1. Consider what their growth and expansion was due to and how they used their ‘Talent Management’ to accommodate the
growth

2. Examine how they approached their key HRM functions to facilitate the increase in demand or the growth.

3. Consider if there were global considerations for the business to take into account when reviewing their HRM function and
roles and analyze how this impacted the firm’s overall strategy to be delivered by their people.

Introduction

 Briefly introduce the topic and outline your key ideas.

 Outline of the Internationally known/MNC e.g. origins of MNC, nature of work, number of employees, financial
status (turnover, market share) etc.
 An introduction should give the reader a glimpse into your thoughts on the subject. You could briefly:
 introduce your main idea or key point
 highlight your other supporting points

What to avoid
 Avoid phrases like ‘In this essay I’m going to write about …’
 Avoid a detailed analysis of the text in your introduction.
 Avoid moving away from your topic. Stay focused on the essay title.
 Remember An introduction will give the reader their first impression of your ideas. So it’s useful to spend time
thinking and planning what to include.

Discussion or Literature review
Assignment Task :

Wide ranging review and analysis of specific IHRM literature- Points to consider:

 Review of the relevant literature; on how the business managed change during the pandemic and
how they thrived and improved

 Review of the relevant literature; specifically, IHRM in relation to Global Talent Management.
How their R&S was done to cope with the increase in demand, how other HRM functions such as
T&D were also impacted. ( Please ensure other HRM functions are considered and discussed )

 Analysis of the International HRM impact and challenges; Evaluation of the IHRM in relation to
the challenges the pandemic brought for the organization (I.e Your chosen company) and how
they responded.
Discussion or Literature review ( Contd)

 Consider if there were global considerations for the business to take into account when reviewing their HRM
function

 Be specific about the chosen fields of IHRM, under investigation. This should build directly from the introduction
and literature review sections, to ensure flow of argument.

 It is important that you offer significant detail on how your chosen MNC operates, in the context of this
question/assignment.

Your discussion must be applied in the context of the assignment brief, and not just listing things or referring to them
without an in-depth analysis .
 Students should be aware that this assignment requires the integration of the major themes of the
module.
 Student skills such as researching materials, analysing, synthesising and critically evaluating the
application of theory in practice will be assessed.

 A superior assignment will demonstrate relevant research skills, analysis and critical evaluation rather
than just description.

 It is important that students apply relevant literature and theoretical concepts to their discussion and
analyse them in a logical and systematic manner .
Conclusion

 Conclusion are a summary of the evaluations!


 Write mainly in past tense E.g. “It was found”
Recommendation

 Provide practical recommendations for your chosen MNC: Identify possible


solutions facing your chosen MNC.

 Outline and discuss problem(s) faced by the IHRM team and possible solution;
recommend what might have been done differently to Manage those challenges

 This is very important . Practical recommendations must be made , please avoid the
use of bullet points or a single line recommendation in this section ,
Recommendations must be well elaborated/detailed)
References

 Work should include references to journal articles and other relevant publications, and should be
properly laid out using the Harvard system of referencing as indicated below:

 More detailed guidance is available in the ‘Guide to Referencing in the Harvard Style’. We
encourage you to avail of the Academic Support via the Library’s Support Service, further
details in the Library Support Services Section.

 Marks will be deducted for incomplete or inaccurate referencing.


 Students may make multiple submissions in advance of the due date to receive feedback via
Turnitin on their academic writing style (similarity score) and any potential plagiarism issues. A
similarity score of less than 20% is generally acceptable provided plagiarism is not found.
Note…
 Students must adhere to the word limit policy so as to avoid penalties as follows:
+10% - no penalty
+>10% - 20% - 5% penalty
+>20% - 30% - 10% penalty
+>30% - 40% - 15% penalty
+>40% - 50% - 20% penalty
+>50% - maximum mark of 40

 Turnitin will confirm the originality of the work and ensure that appropriate referencing standards have been
followed. The Turnitin links for the sections can be found in the Blackboard Learn area for the module, further
guidelines will be provided during class.

 When submitting your final work via Turnitin , Please ensure you are submitting the right document and double
check your work before clicking the final submission button , work will not be accepted after the submission
