Energy cost comparison between fossil fuels and
Electricity for operating industrial steam Boilers
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Can electric boilers match the output of the conventional, fossil fuel burning units?
Due to considerable advances in electric boiler technology, that is far from the case. Today,
such technology can match the capacity of large oil-fired boilers in a much smaller
footprint.
2. What is Return on investment while replacing Fuel fired boilers with Electric Boiler?
It depends on the type of fuel used, the capacity utilization of the plant and the efficiency of
the existing boiler. The Investment can be recovered within 1 (one) year as per our
analysis.
3. What additional expenses does the industry needs to incur in order to switch over to
Electric Boilers?
i. You need a transformer and breaker and a capacitor bank.
ii. Additional Power requirement request from BPC
