IMPORTANCE OF CALIBRATION
5
PROCESS OF CALIBRATION OF AN
INSTRUMENT
1. Preparation: Gather necessary equipment, including a calibrated reference
standard, safety gear, and documentation.
2. Safety Checks: Ensure the electrical device is disconnected, and safety
protocols are followed.
3. Environment Control: Maintain a stable environment, controlling
temperature and humidity.
4. Connections: Properly connect the device and reference standard to a power
source.
5. Data Collection: Record measurements from both devices simultaneously.
6
6. Analysis: Compare readings, calculating any discrepancies.
7. Adjustment: If necessary, adjust the device per manufacturer's instructions.
8. Re-testing: Recheck measurements to confirm accuracy.
9. Documentation: Record calibration details for traceability.
10. Certification: Issue a calibration certificate if required for regulatory
compliance.

8
UNIVERSAL CALIBRATOR
A universal calibrator is a precision instrument specialized in calibrating or simulating a
specific electrical or electronic parameter, such as voltage, current, or frequency, with high
accuracy.
9
DECADE RESISTANCE BOX
Decade resistance boxes are precision instruments designed for calibrating and
verifying the accuracy of resistance measuring devices, such as multimeters and
ohmmeters.
• Decade resistance boxes consist of dials or thumbwheels, each representing a digit
in the resistance value, allowing users to create a specific resistance value by
dialing in the appropriate values.
• Engineers and technicians use decade resistance boxes to analyze and evaluate
circuit behavior by adjusting resistance values.
10
TEMPERATURE CALIBRATORS
Temperature calibrators are essential tools for verifying and adjusting the accuracy
of temperature sensors and thermometers in various industries.
11
ELECTRICAL CALIBRATORS
Electrical calibrators are specialized instruments designed to calibrate and verify
electrical parameters, including voltage, current, resistance, and frequency, ensuring
that measurement instruments provide accurate readings.
• They offer precision calibration across various electrical parameters, making them
essential for maintaining the accuracy of multimeters, power analyzers, and other
devices.
• Calibrations performed using electrical calibrators are traceable to recognized
national or international standards, ensuring measurement reliability.
• Electrical calibrators are used in industries like electronics, power generation, and
manufacturing.
12
PRESSURE CALIBRATORS
Pressure calibrators are instruments designed to verify and adjust the accuracy of
pressure measurement devices and transducers.

1. DATA LOGGER
Data loggers are electronic devices that record and store data over time. They find
applications in various fields, from environmental monitoring to industrial processes,
by collecting and analyzing information such as temperature, humidity, and voltage to
aid in decision-making and quality control.
2. HEAT TREATMENT FURNACE
A heat treatment furnace is an industrial oven used to alter materials' physical and
mechanical properties through controlled heating and cooling processes. It is crucial
in metallurgy and manufacturing, ensuring desirable material characteristics like
hardness, strength, and ductility.
3. ENERGY METER
Energy meters measure electricity consumption in homes, businesses, and industries.
They play a pivotal role in billing and energy management, enabling accurate
tracking of power consumption, voltage, current, and power factor, which helps
optimize energy usage and reduce costs.
15
4. ABT METER
Availability-Based Tariff (ABT) meters are used in the power industry to monitor and
record real-time electricity supply conditions. They facilitate grid management,
ensuring efficient power distribution and cost-effective load shedding during peak
periods to maintain grid stability.
5. INSULATION TESTER
Insulation testers, or megohmmeters, assess the electrical insulation of wires and
cables. By measuring resistance, they identify potential faults and weaknesses that
can lead to electrical leakage, grounding issues, or safety hazards, particularly
important in electrical and telecommunications industries.
6. CLAMP METER
Clamp meters are versatile electrical measurement devices that safely measure
current without physically disconnecting wires. They are vital tools for electricians,
technicians, and engineers, used for troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring
electrical systems.
16
7. MULTIMETER
Multimeters combine several functions in one instrument, measuring voltage, current,
resistance, and sometimes more. They are essential for diagnosing electrical problems,
ensuring safety, and verifying the performance of electrical and electronic components.
8. POWER ANALYZER
Power analyzers assess electrical systems' performance by measuring and analyzing
voltage, current, power, harmonics, and other parameters. They are used in quality
control, energy audits, and optimizing power usage for improved efficiency and
reduced costs.
9. THERMO HYGROMETER
Thermo hygrometers measure temperature and humidity in various settings, such as
indoor environments, industrial processes, and meteorology. Their data assists in
maintaining comfort and safety levels, controlling industrial processes, and
environmental monitoring.
