AUTHORITY
• Qualifications of the compiler or sponsor of the bibliography.
Compiling a national or trade bibliography is a massive
undertaking. It usually involves the resources of a major
publisher, national library, or governmental agency. Therefore,
the issue of authority usually concerns the compilers of subject
bibliographies or resources found on the Web.
SCOPE
• Should be stated by the compilers in the preface or introduction.
• Any exclusion of materials, for reasons such as place of
publication, language, time, type of materials, level of
bibliographic unit, format, or subject, should also be noted.
• Consult guides to the tools of reference work that give clear and
concise descriptions of the coverage, accuracy, intent, and scope
of the bibliographic sources.
SCOPE
• the dates may indicate the years in which the items included were
published.
• the word “international” may be included in a title merely as a
selling point.
• The true geographical coverage of an international or regional
work must be determined by reading introductory material and
examining the contents for depth of inclusion from the countries or
areas intended to be covered
ARRANGEMENT
The arrangement of entries varies from bibliography to bibliography.
• Chemical Abstracts [Columbus, Ohio: American Chemical
Society, 1907-.] entries are arranged under broad headings.
• Indian Science Abstracts entries are arranged according to
Universal Decimal Classification and alphabetically author-wise
under the main class.
• Indian National Bibliography, entries are arranged under Dewey
Decimal Classification number.
CURRENCY
• Book Trade should offer the most recent information to fulfill the
intent of their publication: providing current information on
currently available materials.
• Book trade publications may also list publications announced for
publication but not yet published.
SPECIAL FEATURES

• Usually bibliographies provide indexes.

• Indexes vary from bibliography to bibliography. Author index and
subject index are quite common.
• Apart from these, substance index, place name index, patent
index, etc. are also provided.
