Automatic Vehicle Speed Control Speed in Restricted Zone

This document describes a project to develop an automatic vehicle speed control system in restricted zones. The system uses sensors and a microcontroller to monitor the vehicle's speed and automatically reduce it to a limited speed when entering restricted areas. It aims to improve road safety by limiting speeds, reduce fuel consumption and emissions, and help drivers react more quickly to road conditions. The methodology uses optical sensors connected to a microcontroller and voice response module. Testing showed successful speed regulation and communication between the prototype and remote control. The system achieves the goals of automating speed control and assisting safe driving in restricted areas.

INTRODUCTION
 Embedded systems controls many devices in common use today.

 In this project, the design and development of one such embedded system is

considered .It is based on the idea of vehicular speed monitoring and control.

 The speed of the vehicle is automatically reduced and locked to a particular

limit as it enters the restricted area or zone, hence acting as an automatic speed
limiter or reliever.

 A voice warning system for automobiles includes a microprocessor connected

with the battery of an automobile, a plurality of sensors arranged on different
parts of the engine and connected with the microprocessor, and two voice
integrated circuits for storing voice messages, whereby the microprocessor will
give voice messages to notify the driver of the conditions of the car thereby
ensuring the safety of the driver.

OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of the proposed work are:

 To reduce accidental risk due to maximum vehicle speed by limiting the

speed of vehicles .
 To balance road traffic safety concerns with the effect on travel time .
 To reduce consumption of fuel.
 To reduce vehicle emissions in response to environmental concerns.
 To reduce the amount of time it takes for driver to react to changes in the
roadway and makes it easier to stop vehicle if needed.

RESULTS
• An RF based remote controlled prototypical robotic model successfully implemented
demonstrating the speed regulation and parking assistance applications.

•Successful radio frequency communication established between the remote control and

the prototype, enabling the prototype to navigate in all directions based on the signals
received from the remote control.

• RF transmitters and receivers successfully tuned and implemented to demonstrate the

speed locking and relieving application at the restricted zones.

• Parking assistance circuitry installed and verified successfully.

CONCLUSION
The project Design & Development of Automated vehicular speed limiter and reliever has
been successfully designed and tested.
Major Project Presentation

It has been developed by integrating features of all the hardware components used.
Presence of every module has been reasoned out and placed carefully thus contributing to
the best working of the unit.

Thus we conclude by referring to the flexibility in the implementation of our project and
the vastness of its applications, which has been briefly demonstrated.

We have been successful in attaining the desired results and hope to see its implementation
at a wider domain.

MOTIVATION

As such, there is a strong motivation to promote the Vehicle’s Speed Limiter

system.
Major Project Presentation

The implementation of this project assures automation of vehicular speed

control and safe road transportation in restricted zones.

The designing process of the system can be done easily but we can add some
technology to make this system user friendly, more reliable and low cost
system.

This system takes the voice input from the authenticated user and then controls
the speed in accordance with the user’s demand.

FUTURE SCOPE

•The implementation of this project assures automation of vehicular speed control and safe
road transportation in restricted zones. Accounting to its flexibility in implementation
Major Project Presentation

various improvisations can be adapted in its applications.

•To name a few are the technological advantages of GPS and Ad-Hoc networks that can be
merged with the present system design and implementation.

• GPS systems can be used to locate the vehicles and to automatically lock their speed in
restricted zones which eliminates the use of RF sensors.

• GPS systems can also be used to locate vacant parking spots which can act as parking
assistance for the vehicles.

• Vehicular Ad-Hoc networks which are commonly known as VANETs can be used to
assure the functionality brought about by the RF sensors.

9 03/26/2024
FUTURE SCOPE

• In the case of VANETs each vehicle acts as a mobile node which can intercommunicate
with other mobile nodes or vehicles, this principle can be made use of to assure the
locking mechanism.
Major Project Presentation

•Considering the case where the IR signal is not received, the locking action fails, but the
vehicle in front which already has its speed locked can in turn communicate with the
vehicle behind it by sending a signal intimating it to lock its speed, hence assuring the
locking mechanism.

•Considering the huge number of advantages that will be caused due to automation in
vehicular speed control ensures ample amount of scope and technological advancement for
this project.
