Technical Drawing Sba

Technical drawing is used to visually communicate ideas in engineering and industry. It requires a set of tools including a T-square, pencils, eraser, rulers, sharpener, set squares, compass, protractor, and drawing board. Each tool has a specific function - the T-square and ruler are used to draw straight lines, pencils make marks, erasers remove marks, set squares draw angles, and the compass, protractor, and drawing board help with measuring and drawing circles and angles. Together these tools allow technical drawings to effectively convey complex designs and constructions.

Technical Drawing

By Charles Graham
What Exactly is Technical
Drawing?
Technical drawing is the act of composing drawings that visually show
how something function or is constructed.

Technical Drawing is essential for communicating ideas in industry and

engineering. To make drawings easier to understand people use
familiar symbols, perspectives, units of measurement, notation
systems, visual styles and page layouts. Together, such conventions
constitute a visual language and help to ensure that the drawing is
relatively easy to understand
What are the tools needed for Technical
Drawing

Technical Drawing requires a set of instruments that include The T-Square,

Pencils, An Eraser, Rulers, A Sharpener, Set Squares, A Compass, A Protractor, A
Drawing Board. All of these tools have special function in Technical Drawing.
The T-Square
A T-square is a technical
drawing instrument used by
draftsmen primarily as a guide
for drawing horizontal lines on
a drafting table. It may also
guide a set square to draw
vertical or diagonal lines. Its
name comes from its
resemblance to the letter T.
The Pencil
A Pencil is a drawing
implement with a solid
pigment core in a protective
casing that reduces the risk of
core breakage and keeps it
from marking the user’s hand.

Pencils create marks by

physical abrasion, leaving a
trail of solid core material that
adheres to a sheet of paper
when applying minimal force
to it.
The Eraser
The Eraser is an item used for
removing marks from a paper.
Erasers have a rubbery
consistency and come in a
variety of shapes, sizes and
colors. Some pencils have an
easer on one end. The Eraser
is also commonly known as a
“Rubber” because of the
rubber material it is made
from
The Ruler
The ruler is a device used to
measure distances and to
draw straight lines. Rulers
have long been made from
different materials and in
multiple sizes. Some are
wooden. Plastics have also
been used since they were
invented; they can be molded
with length markings instead
of being scribed. Metal is
used for more durable rulers
for use in the workshop
Set Squares
Set Squares are usually a
triangular object with the aim
of providing a straight edge at
a right angle or other
particular planar angle to a
baseline.

The most common Set Squares

used in Technical Drawing are
the 60 Degree and 45 Degree
Angle Set Squares
The Compass
The compass is instrument
that can be used for inscribing
circles or arcs. As dividers, it
can also be used as a tool to
mark out distances.
Compasses can be used for
other purposes like drafting,
navigation and mathematics.

Prior to computerization,
compasses and other tools for
manual drafting were often
packaged as a set with
interchangeable parts.
The Protractor
The Protractor is an instrument
used for measuring, typically
made of transparent plastic or
glass. Some protractors are
simple half-discs or full circles.
Most Protractors measure
angles in degrees.
Drawing Board
The Drawing Board is a kind of
multipurpose desk which can
be used for any kind of
drawing, writing or impromptu
sketching on a large sheet of
paper or for reading a large
format book or other oversized
document or for drafting
precise technical illustrations.
The drawing table used to be a
frequent companion to a
pedestal desk in a study or
private library, during the
pre-industrial and early
industrial era
