Differentiates Solid and Plane q3w1d3

1. The document differentiates between solid and plane figures. Solid figures have three dimensions - length, width and height - while plane figures only have two dimensions, length and width. 2. Examples are provided of both solid figures, such as cubes and spheres, and plane figures, including squares, circles and triangles. 3. The key difference explained is that plane figures are two-dimensional while solid figures have a third dimension of height, giving them volume in addition to area.

OPENING PRAYER

Lord, bless each and every learners

here, as well as our teacher, as we
embark on another day of learning.
Please give us clear minds and open
hearts so we can grasp the knowledge
and lessons set before us. Help us to be
attentive, and let Your wisdom guide us
in our studies.Amen

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

What are the things that you need to

do when the teacher is already in
front of the class?
Avoid unnecessary noise and
getting in and out of the classroom
Focus and cooperate in all
activities
Raise your hands to answer the
questions
OBJECTIVES

After this lesson, we can

1.Identify solid figures : cube , prism ,
pyramid , cylinder , cone , and sphere.
2.Identify plane figures :
square,rectangle , triangle , circle ,
pentagon and hexagon.
3.Differentiate solid figures from plane
figures.

INTRODUCTION

A plane figures are made up of line segments/curves

or arcs joined together in a plane.A plane figures has
two dimensions length and width.
It has flat surfaces that extends without end in all
directions.
Solid figures – are three-dimensional figure such as
length , width, and height.
How many dimensions in a plane figures ?
What are those ?
How many dimensions in solid figures ?
What are those ?
Today, we are going to differentiate
solid figures and plane figures.

What is the difference between solid

figures and plane figures ?
UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES
Plane figures – are made up of line segments /curves or
arcs joined together in a plane. Has two dimensions length
and width. Flat surface that extends without end in all
directions.
Segments – part of a line or curve.
Curves – is the continuous image of a closed unit line
segment.
Arcs - is a segment of a circle.
Dimensions – are the measure of the size or distance of
an object or region or space in one direction.
Length – is a measure how long an object is or the
distance between two
points.
Width – how wide a figure is from side to side.
Solid figures – are three-dimensional figure such as
Plane figure has 2 dimensions (length and
width) while
Solid figure has 3 dimensions (length,
width, height)
What is a plane figure?
A plane figure is two dimensional figure
which possesses an area but the volume
of this figure is zero. The examples of
plane figures are square, circle,
rectangle, triangle etc. Plane figures can
be drawn on a paper. The unit of area of
a plane figure is square of unit of length.
The study of plane figures is called plane
geometry.
This are the
example
What is a solid figure?
The three dimensional figures are called
solid figures. These figures have an
surface area as well as a volume. These
figures cannot be drawn on a paper. The
examples of solid figures are cuboid,
parallelepiped, football, solid sphere etc.
The unit of area of a solid figure is
square of unit of length. Similarly, the
volume of three dimensional figure is
cube of unit of length
