AI, 8 Slides

This document discusses artificial intelligence (AI). It provides an introduction defining AI and noting it was coined in 1956. It then discusses causes of AI, including removing human error, performing tasks continuously, and contributing to learning. Effects of AI are then examined, including the potential for bias in algorithms and job losses. The conclusion states AI will continue providing benefits but must be developed responsibly to avoid harm.

INTRODUCTION

• The term AI was coined in 1956 (John McCarthy) (James, 2019)

• AI is a branch of Computer Science. (IBM Cloud Education, 2020)

• Science and engineering of making intelligent machines.

• Capability of machines to perform multiple tasks.

1
• Intelligence demonstrated by machines is known as AI.
CAUSES OF ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE
• It can significantly remove human error.
(Soken-Huberty, 2022)

• Unlike humans, AI can perform tasks 24/7.

• It can diagnose faults in spaceflight

systems.

• Contributes to learning – AI- generated

lessons.

• Huge role in Social Media – Tiktok

EFFECT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
(AI- BIAS)
• Algorithms built by humans- availability
of built-in bias. (Marr, 2021)

• Production of Biased results.

• Leads to unintended consequences.

• AI algorithms need to be developed 3

responsibly.
EFFECTS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
(Loss of certain jobs)
• Many jobs will be lost due to AI.

• Machines will take over those jobs

• Requirement of changes to education programmes.

• Utilization of unique human capabilities. 4

CONCLUSION
• Everything can be considered as AI.

• The involvement of a program doing something.

• AI will continue to provide benefits to Modern world.

• Humans must use the positive sides of AI.

(Kumar, 2019)
• None of the AI applications to enslave humanity. 5
