Under The Spotlight

A Short Film By Jack Rowland

LOCATIONS
Outline of my Production - Jacobs Flat (Majority of the Production)

- The film shows the entire process, from applying, to learning - Theatre Stage (In Jacobs mind, and him
dreaming)
monologues, rejections, and the eventual triumph.

- The film will go into immense detail (Fees, working, balancing - Jacobs Work (Most likely a pub or bar)
work and school etc.)

- Abstract nature in the film, going inside Jacobs mind to see his CHARACTERS
psyche and the stress of this process
- Jacob (Protagonist)
- Something I am currently going through
- Jacobs Friends and Colleagues
- I have a lot of knowledge on this subject

- Personal connection to myself in this story

Inspiration

- Created two mood boards, one was for drama

films, the other for general ideas

- I always gravitate towards photos, inspiration,

and ideas that I think look cool

- Abstract photos and, things that create an

unsettling feeling

- Where the abstract nature came into play, the

clones, the eyes on the apples, the multiple
versions of the girl in the top left
Competition
- The UK Student Film Festival stated that they
started their festival in order to showcase young
and/or aspiring filmmakers taking their first steps in
the world of short film creation.

- I’m entering my film into the UK Student Film

Festival because I will be up against like-minded
filmmakers, and I believe I would have a chance
to win.

- I will be entering myself into the Drama Short

Film Student category
Social Context & Implications
- There are many social issues when it comes to applying
for drama school that I would like to highlight in my
production

- Audition fees

- Showing Jacob working

- Emphasising the effort that goes into learning pieces

- Paying for travel and taking time out

- A lot of it goes unnoticed?

Target Audience
- My target audience for this production is 16 – 24
year old's

- This is because this is the age where many

people would be applying for
Drama School or just universities in general

- I also think this age, particularly above 20,

would be interested in seeing the process itself.

- Interested in visual abstract effects
