My Favorite Websites
• My Favorite Websites
• I'm on my computer a lot, so, there are many websites
that I love to go on! Here they are.
• 1. YouTube (youtube.com)
• YouTube is literally my life, I upload my own videos and watch countless videos from other
people. I'm subscribed to so many people and I go on just about every day to see new
videos! YouTube is where I get my music, watch tutorials, and teach myself things from
school that I didn't understand in class. YouTube is a place for everyone and I love it so
much! I can spend hours on end watching video after video, even if it's from just one
YouTuber; I never get bored! It's also a lot of fun to upload my own videos and see how
much I have changed over the years; I started uploading videos when I was in 5th or 6th
grade, and I still do it today!

• 2. Netflix (netflix.com)
• Netflix is one of my biggest distractions, it drives my
obsession for many TV series and movies. Netflix is the
best because they have so many movies and TV shows
for everyone to watch and they have a wide variety.
• The only thing that bothers me is that they don't always have new
releases; they have mostly older things. I really like watching TV
shows on Netflix rather than movies because I always end up
watching episode after episode and sit at my computer for twelve
hours. I know it's crazy, but it's so addicting! Some of my favorite
shows have become my favorite shows because of Netflix! It's
crazy because I never even watch TV anymore, I just watch
Netflix! I love it so much and it's great that they allow people to
use their Wiis, Xboxes, Playstations, and more systems and
devices to watch their shows or movies on!
• 3. Amazon (amazon.com)
• Amazon is great because they have SO MANY things you can buy,
literally if you want to get something, Amazon probably has it. I like
Amazon because my family has an Amazon Prime account, which
allows us to get free two-day shipping as well as watching movies and
get books from the site! I buy things off of Amazon all the time because
their prices are decent, everything always gets delivered quick, and
there are usually no problems!
• 4. Google (google.com)
• Google is probably my savior; I go on it almost every day.
Whenever I don't know something, Google is my go to! It's
awesome because I love that they have maps, email, docs,
images, videos, news, and so much more. Google is very simple
and easy to use and there is SO much information to be found. I
don't know what I would do without Google, it answers all my
questions!
• With access to the entire world’s knowledge literally in our pockets, there is
never an excuse to have dinner debates about whether Friendster was the
world’s first social network or the original source of a Singlish phrase. Even
more than the random useless trivia that we draw from the Internet, we
pretend the Internet can substitute as as our parents, our legal advisors and
even our clergy.
• One major area of online search is health. If we find a rash on our arm, we
ask Siri to Google it. We even ask Google to diagnose multiple symptoms
(bad idea: the results usually, falsely, point to a deadly disease).
• To anyone who read the recent news about a person dying as a result of a
Baidu search, this comes as no surprise, and we all do it. While Baidu might
have quality issues when it comes to ranking results, the same wrong
information is still available on Google.
• 5. Facebook (facebook.com)
• Even though I get frustrated at Facebook, I still go on it a lot. Facebook is a
great way for me to meet new people and stay in contact with my friends! I
really like it just to message people, post pictures, and be in group pages for
teams and clubs. I always used to use MySpace back in the day, but it died
out so I had to switch to Facebook! Facebook has changed a lot over the
years though and sometimes it makes me mad! Although, I still go on every
day.
• 6. Urban Dictionary (urbandictionary.com)
• Urban Dictionary is a funny site I like to go on when I don't know what weird
words or new lingo means. I don't go on it too often, but some of the
definitions people put on there always crack me up! Some things are a little
weird though! One time me and my friend defined a word and made up a
really weird definition that wasn't true at all! Anyways, it's a great site to help
me when I don't know what something strange means.
• 7. Pandora (pandora.com)
• Pandora is the best because I can listen to as much music as I want, for
FREE! I like that you can have several stations because it lets me put in all
my favorite genres of music or my favorite bands and then finds everything
similar to it! Whenever I'm listening, it's like Pandora knows my favorite songs
because it ALWAYS plays the best ones! I go on Pandora all the time, but
sometimes I can't because it distracts me too much she I start belting out into
song!
• 8. The Weather Channel (weather.com)
• The weather channel is my savior when I don't know what's happening
outside! I have the app on my phone and I go on the website on my computer
a lot. I always check the weather the night before so I know what I should
wear for the next day! I also like looking at the weather at other places if I'm
traveling somewhere else. OH, and it's the best site to use if I'm trying to
predict if school will have a snow day, two-hour delay, or early dismissal!
• 9.Twitter (twitter.com)
• Twitter is a free social networking site where users broadcast short posts
known as tweets. These tweets can contain text, videos, photos or links. To
access Twitter, users need an internet connection or smart phone to use the
app or website, Twitter.com.
• It is a microblogging service -- a combination of blogging and instant
messaging -- for registered users to post, share, like and reply to tweets with
short messages. Nonregistered users can only read tweets.
• People use Twitter to get the latest updates and promotions from brands;
communicate with friends; and follow business leaders, politicians and
celebrities. They also use it to stay current on news and events. Twitter was
the first source to break the news of the water landing of US Airways Flight
549 in New York City's Hudson River.
• Twitter is used to share information quickly. Because tweets can be delivered
to followers in real time, they might seem like instant messages (IM) to the
novice user. But unlike IMs that disappear when the user closes the
application, tweets are also posted on the Twitter website. They are
permanent, searchable and public. There is also an option to protect tweets
so only followers can read tweets.
• History of Twitter
• In March 2006, Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone and Evan Williams
created Twitter. The idea for Twitter came from wanting to use a short
messaging system for a small group. It was available to the public in July
2006.
• Twitter partners with investing platform eToro in April to let
users access and trade stocks, cryptocurrencies and
other assets from links to eToro. Musk appoints Linda
Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter in May.
