essential in a workplace to keep the optimum conditions
of physical properties at acceptable levels. The learner
should be familiar in managing and upholding hand tools
to extend the use in lifespan and ensure the safety of
learners from using the tools, its physical properties and
the environment.

Anti-static wrist strap

Wear the anti-static wrist strap with the metal touching


your skin at all times.

Know where your grounding pin is located before attaching


the alligator clip or it may also be connected to the
grounding point where your anti-static mat is connected.
Clip the alligator clip to the grounding point of the
outlet respective to where the grounding pin is located
based on your location.

Make sure that the switch is OFF before attaching the clip to
the grounding point.

with this you can now work on with your installation and
have zero worries of risking damaging your delicate
computer parts with ESD.

Place the antistatic mat on the workspace next to or


under the computer case.

Unplug the computer and attach the alligator clip on


to the metal chassis of the computer.

Place the tip of the screwdriver on the head of the screw.
Then to tighten the screw, turn the screwdriver clockwise
and counterclockwise to loosen the screw.

Always use flat head screwdriver to tighten or loosen a


slotted screw.

Do not use a flat head screwdriver to remove a Philip head


screw. Never use a screwdriver as a punch, wedge or a pry

screws.

Do not use this type of screwdriver to puncture anything


and avoid touching the tip of the screwdriver because this

have a hexagonal head.

Hex bolts should not be over-tightened because the


threads of the bolts can be stripped.

because it will affect the physical operation of fans, buttons, and other
mechanical components.

component.

Clean computer cases and the outside of monitors with lint free cloth
or soft cloth with a mild cleaning solution or water.

sure it is dry before booting the computer

The safest method to clean the LCD screen is simply use a soft clean
cloth moistened with water.

Do not use ammoniated glass cleaners or any other solution on an

screen.

Clean the contacts on components with isopropyl alcohol.

accident or damage on the tools, machine and equipment.
Preventive maintenance is performed regularly while the equipment is
still working so that it does not break down unexpectedly and extend its
productivity and lessen the likelihood of failing.

The successful maintenance program is:

• well organized and scheduled,


• controls hazards,
• defines operational procedures, and
• trains key personnel.
Electronic equipment may have different maintenance
requirements. Hand tools may require only basic
maintenance.

Damaged or defective equipment/tools should be


tagged and removed from service.
PROPER STORAGE OF TOOLS,
PARTS, AND EQUIPMENT
When tools and equipment are properly stored it will be easy to find, use and it remain in
good condition.
Good practices include:
1. Computer parts and cables should be properly stored and labeled.
2. Tools should be properly placed on the board or tool cabinet with label.
3. Use bins or parts organizer for storing small parts.
4. Require individual (or individuals) to be responsible for the maintenance of tools
and parts.
Benefits:
1. Tools and parts are kept in good condition and are easy to find and use.
2. Reduce cost. Saves money and avoid the procurement of new tools or equipment.
3. Increase in productivity, time-bound performance. It avoids wasting time looking
for the tools needed in the performance.
4. Make all staff or personnel to be responsible on their task/job.
