Descriptive flexfields provide customizable expansion space to capture additional information not captured in an application. They can be customized for different user groups without reprogramming the application. Descriptive flexfields are implemented as additional database columns and can include global segments that always appear, as well as context-sensitive segments that only appear for certain field values. To create descriptive flexfields, you register the flexfield title with the application table, define global and context-dependent segments, and customize the prompts, lengths, and valid values for each segment.
