PENJELASAN SLIDE SATU
• Back to the topic, today we will learn about
"procedure text". Please prepare a notebook to
note down important things from the material
that we will discuss together, especially
regarding theory.

• Have you prepared your notebook? OK, I'll

explain briefly first and then later we'll discuss it
in the discussion session. Okay?
Definition of Procedure Text
• Procedure text is a text that
explains, informs, or helps the
reader on how to make or use
something.
Structure of Procedure Text
1. Goal
-> Goal is a procedure text structure that explains the
intent or purpose.

2. Materials
-> Materials is a procedure text structure that
describes the tools and materials needed.

3. Steps
-> The next procedure text structure is steps, which
contain steps or instructions for making or doing
something.
Linguistic Features of Procedure
Text
1. Using Simple Present Tense
-> This is because in the procedure text there are
commands about how to make or do something.

2. Using Imperative Sentences

-> Imperative sentences are always preceded by verb 1 of
action verbs or verbs that involve physical activity. So, we
don't need to use a subject at the beginning of the
sentence.

Example: Add 3 onions and mix it well. This sentence

begins with verb 1, add. There is no subject at the
beginning of the sentence.
Linguistic Features of Procedure
Text
3. Using Connectives
-> The goal is to link the steps in it so that the list of
instructions made is coherent and easy to understand.

Example: First, secondly, then, after that, and finally.

4. Using adverbs (adverbs)

-> The goal is to provide a description of the time. There are 2
types of adverbs or adverbs used in procedure text, namely:
1). Adverb of time or an adverb of time indicating how long we
have to do something. Example: in 10 minutes, for 1 hour.
2). Adverb of manner or description of how to do something.
Example: slowly, well, evenly.
Types of Text Procedures
1. Procedure text that explains how to
operate/use something
Examples include how to use an air fryer, how
to use a dish washer, how to use a camera.

2. Procedure text that provides instructions

for carrying out certain activities
Examples include how to play the violin, how
to create a website, and how to make
rendang.
