Dr. Monika Sharma outlines the cardiac arrest algorithms and critical concepts of CPR for adults. The key steps are: 1. Check for responsiveness and breathing/pulse within 5-10 seconds. 2. If unresponsive with no breathing or pulse, activate emergency response and begin CPR with 30 compressions and 2 breaths. 3. Use an AED as soon as available to analyze rhythm and deliver shocks if needed, resuming CPR immediately after each shock. 4. Continue CPR until emergency responders take over or the victim starts moving.

CRITICAL CONCEPTS OF CPR FOR ADULTS
High-quality CPR improves a victim’s chances of survival. The
critical characteristics of high-quality CPR include the following:
•Start compressions within 10 seconds of recognition of cardiac
arrest.
•Push hard: Compress with a depth of at least 5cm
•Push fast: Compress at a rate of 100 to 120/min
•Allow complete chest recoil after each compression.
•Minimize interruptions in compressions (try to limit interruptions
to less than 10 seconds).
•Give effective breaths that make the visible chest rise.
•Avoid excessive ventilation
