Session 19 Flight Instruments

Flight instruments provide pilots with crucial data about the aircraft's flight situation. They are classified by the job they perform into flight, engine, and navigation instruments. The main working systems are pitot-static for airspeed and altitude measurements, compass for direction, gyroscopes for attitude, and navigational aids. The six basic flight instruments established in 1937 as essential for instrument flight are the airspeed indicator, attitude indicator, altimeter, turn coordinator, heading indicator, and vertical speed indicator, typically arranged in a "basic-T" on the instrument panel. Modern glass cockpits display the same information digitally in an analog instrument graphical format.

Flight instruments are the

instruments in the cockpit of an
aircraft that provide the pilot with
data about the flight situation of
that aircraft, such as altitude,
airspeed, vertical speed, heading
and much more other crucial
information in flight

became the first pilot to take
off, fly and land an airplane
using instruments alone,
without a view outside the

shown on monitors.
But the display is not
shown by numbers,
but as images of
analog instruments.
