WHAT IS A CYBERCRIME
 Cybercrime is criminal activity that either targets or uses a
computer, a computer network or a networked device. Most
cybercrime is committed by cybercriminals or hackers who want
to make money. However, occasionally cybercrime aims to
damage computers or networks for reasons other than profit.
These could be political or personal.

 Cybercrime can be carried out by individuals or organizations.

Some cybercriminals are organized, use advanced techniques
and are highly technically skilled. Others are novice hackers.
TYPES OF CYBERCRIMES

 Cybercrimes can take many different forms, ranging from

hacking and phishing to identity theft and online harassment. In
many cases, cybercriminals use sophisticated techniques and
tools to carry out their illegal activities, making it difficult for law
enforcement agencies to track them down.

 Phishing: This is a type of cybercrime where attackers send emails

or messages that look legitimate but are actually designed to steal
sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords, and credit
card numbers.
 Malware: Malware is any software that is designed to harm a
computer system or steal data. Examples include viruses, worms,
and Trojans.
Identity theft: This is a type of cybercrime where attackers steal
personal information, such as Social Security numbers and credit
card numbers, to commit fraud.
Cyberbullying: Cyberbullying refers to the use of digital technology
to harass, intimidate, or embarrass another person. This can include
sending threatening messages, spreading rumors, or sharing
embarrassing photos or videos.
Hacking: Hacking refers to unauthorized access to computer
systems or networks. This can include stealing data, modifying data,
or disrupting normal system operations.
CYBERBULLYING
 Cyberbullying is a form of harassment that occurs online,
often through social media or messaging platforms. It can
take many forms, including sending threatening messages,
sharing embarrassing photos or videos, or spreading
rumors. And the victim may feel like they can't escape from
it. If you or someone you know is being cyberbullied, it's
important to speak up and seek help from a trusted friend,
family member, or professional. Remember, everyone
deserves to feel safe and respected online.
CYBERCRIMES CAUSES AND MOTIVATIONS
 There are many different causes and motivations behind
cybercrime, some of which include financial gain, political or
ideological motives, revenge, and personal gain or
satisfaction.
 One of the main motivations behind cybercrime is financial
gain. Many cybercriminals target financial institutions,
companies and individuals to steal money or confidential
information that they can use for profit. This type of
cybercrime can take many forms, including phishing scams,
ransomware attacks, and credit card fraud.
 Another common motivation behind cybercrime is
political or ideological beliefs. Hacktivist groups, for
example, may carry out cyberattacks against
government agencies or corporations that they deem
unfair or unethical. Cybercrime can also be motivated
by personal grudges or revenge, with individuals or
groups targeting specific individuals or organizations
as a way to settle scores.
