IT TRENDS
WHAT ARE IT TRENDS?
Technology is an ever-changing playing field and those wanting to remain at the helm of innovation have to adapt. The consumer journey is charting a new course and customers and companies alike are embracing emerging technologies. As the IT industry trends such as cloud computing and SaaS become more pervasive, the world will look to brands who can deliver with accuracy and real-time efficiency. To help meet the demands of a technology- enabled consumer base, businesses and solution providers must also turn toward the latest trends and possibilities provided by emerging innovations to realize their full potential. EXAMPLES OF IT TRENDS: THE A.I. The A.I. or what we call, artificial intelligence refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. The term may also be applied to any machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-solving. BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY Blockchain technology is most simply defined as a decentralized, distributed ledger that records the provenance of a digital asset. It is a digital record of transactions. The name comes from its structure, in which individual records, called blocks, are linked together in single list, called a chain. Blockchains are used for recording transactions made with crypto currencies, such as Bitcoin, and have many other applications. INTERNET OF THINGS(IOT) IoT is essentially a platform where embedded devices are connected to the internet, so they can collect and exchange data with each other. It enables devices to interact, collaborate and, learn from each other's experiences just like humans do. Its system consists of sensors/devices which “talk” to the cloud through some kind of connectivity. Once the data gets to the cloud, software processes it and then might decide to perform an action, such as sending an alert or automatically adjusting the sensors/devices without the need for the user. VIRTUAL REALITY(VR) Virtual reality (VR) refers to a computer- generated simulation in which a person can interact within an artificial three- dimensional environment using electronic devices, such as special goggles with a screen or gloves fitted with sensors. This technology is used to create immersive experiences that can help educate and even entertain consumers. Outside of its popular gaming use case, virtual reality is applied in a variety of industries, such as medicine, architecture, military, and others. AUGMENTED REALITY(AR) Augmented reality(AR) is the real-time use of information in the form of text, graphics, audio, and other virtual enhancements integrated with real-world objects. When someone talks about AR, they are referring to technology that overlays information and virtual objects on real-world scenes in real- time. It uses the existing environment and adds information to it to make a new artificial environment. ROBOTICS PROCESS AUTOMATION (RPA) Like AI and Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation, or RPA, is another technology that is automating jobs. RPA is the use of software to automate business processes such as interpreting applications, processing transactions, dealing with data, and even replying to emails. RPA automates repetitive tasks that people used to do. QUANTUM COMPUTING Next remarkable technology trend is quantum computing, which is a form of computing that takes advantage of quantum phenomena like superposition and quantum entanglement. This amazing technology trend is also involved in preventing the spread of the coronavirus, and to develop potential vaccines, thanks to its ability to easily query, monitor, analyze and act on data, regardless of the source. Another field where quantum computing is finding applications is banking and finance, to manage credit risk, for high frequency trading and fraud detection. https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=60OkanvToFI&t=443s CYBER SECURITY Cyber security might not seem like an emerging technology, given that it has been around for a while, but it is evolving just as other technologies are. That’s in part because threats are constantly new. The malevolent hackers who are trying to illegally access data are not going to give up any time soon, and they will continue to find ways to get through even the toughest security measures. It’s also in part because new technology is being adapted to enhance security. As long as we have hackers, cybersecurity will remain a trending technology because it will constantly evolve to defend against those hackers.
