Female and Male Grade 9

The document summarizes the male and female reproductive systems and endocrine systems. It lists the main organs of the male reproductive system including the penis, urethra, epididymis, testis, and scrotum. It also lists the main organs of the female reproductive system including the uterus, ovary, cervix, vagina, infundibulum, and fallopian tubes. It then discusses the endocrine system and describes the main reproductive hormones for males including testosterone, FSH, and LH and the main reproductive hormones for females including estrogen, progesterone, and FSH.

Endocrine System

• endocrine system - is made up of the

endocrine glands that secrets hormones and
in control of the body mechanisms.
• Endocrine Gland is an organ that makes and puts out hormones to do
specific function or task in our body.

• Gonads- the primary reproductive organs which includes testes in male

and ovaries in female.

• Hormones are chemical substances that act like messenger in the body.

• Reproductive Hormones are responsible for sexual development and

drivers of human reproduction.
MALE HORMONES

1. Testosterone • this reproductive hormone helps develop and maintain male

sex characteristics and in the production of sperm in the
testes.
• The hypothalamus stimulates the release of Follicle Stimulating
Hormone (FSH) and LH into the male system for the first time
at the start of puberty.

2. Follicle Stimulating • this hormone helps control the production of sperm in the
Hormone (FSH)
testes.
• This hormone stimulates testicular growth and enhance the
production of an androgen -binding protein by the Sertoli cells,
which are a component of the testicular tubule necessary for
sustaining the maturing sperm cell.
MALE HORMONES

Luteinizing • produced and released in the anterior pituitary gland the

Hormone (LH) Luteinizing Hormone stimulates testosterone production from
the interstitial cells of the testes (Leydig cells).
FEMALE HORMONES

1. Estrogen • the reproductive hormone in females that assists in

endometrial regrowth, ovulation, and calcium absorption
• it is also responsible for the secondary sexual characteristics of
females.(These include breast development, flaring of the
hips, and a shorter period necessary for bone maturation.)

2. Progesterone • assists in regrowth of the endometrial and inhibition of the

release of FSH and LH.

3. Follicle • stimulates development of egg cells, called ova, which develop

Stimulating in structures called follicles.
Hormone (FSH)
MALE HORMONES

Luteinizing • also plays a role in the development of egg cell, induction of

Hormone (LH) ovulation, and stimulation of estrogen and progesterone
production by the ovaries.
