PeopleSoft – Portals
 What is a Portal?
 In PeopleTools, portal technology consists of PeopleSoft Pure Internet Architecture and the various systems, code,
and standards used for creating and managing portals.
 PeopleSoft Pure Internet Architecture enables internet application deployment through a browser, and enables you to
take advantage of PeopleSoft intranet solutions, internet solutions, and integration technologies. PeopleSoft Pure
Internet Architecture runs seamlessly in portals created and managed by PeopleTools portal technology.
 Albertsons uses two Portals
EMPLOYEE – The default portal used inside of the
Albertsons Network
SELFSERV – This portal is used outside of the
Albertsons Network
This controls what pages can be access
internally vs externally.

73
PeopleSoft – Portals
 The EMPLOYEE portal is the default portal. When logging into Direct2HR inside of the Albertsons network, you automatically
log into the EMPLOYEE portal. You can see that in the URL.

 You log in externally, the application accesses the SELFSERV portal.

74
PeopleSoft – Portals
 The portal can be changed by typing SELFSERV in the URL and hitting enter when the user is logged into the Albertsons
network. If the employee attempts to switch when external, it will redirect back to the SELFSERV url.

75
PeopleSoft – Portals
 Any changes made to the EMPLOYEE portal to ESS Tiles will have to be made in the SELFSERV portal. HRIS will have to
work with IT and Security to ensure that the portals are kept in sync.
