- AICTSL was incorporated in 2005 to operate and manage Indore's public transport system using a public-private partnership model. It aimed to improve urban mobility by establishing an organized public transit system. - Before 2006, Indore lacked an effective public transport system. It suffered from traffic congestion, pollution, and a rapid rise in private vehicle usage. - In 2007, AICTSL launched Indore's first BRTS corridor stretching 11.46 km. It featured dedicated bus lanes, elevated stations, off-board ticketing, and intelligent transport management. Ridership increased over 400% in the first 4 months, demonstrating the success of the improved transit system.

Indore Before 2006 Scenario
1. Modes of Public Transport
• 550 private old Mini buses
• 350 old Tempos & old Autos.
2. Congestion, accidents, pollution, rapid
growth of city.
3. Lack of specialized and effective public
transport system.
4. No concept of bus stops and time
schedules.
5. No route information to the citizens and no
transit awareness in the private operators.
6. Rapid Increase in the number of 2
wheelers.
7. No study or scientific approach towards
the Public Transit.
AICTSL Objectives
• Improve quality and cost effectiveness of public/ urban
transport.
• Reduce fuel use, air pollution and greenhouse gas
emissions.
• Improve accessibility, traffic safety and passenger security.
• Improve quality of public spaces and access to city benefits
for all income classes. Increase competitiveness of the city;
reduce the cost of getting to work.
