Concept of Curriculum 3

The document discusses the concept and history of curriculum. It defines curriculum as meaning "to run" in Latin and was later adapted to mean "a course of study." It describes traditional curriculum as taking a more linear approach focused on fundamentals, while progressive curriculum emphasizes skills like critical thinking. It then profiles different scholars and their traditional or progressive perspectives on curriculum - for example, Dewey viewed it as reflective thinking, while Hutchins focused on "permanent studies." Overall, it contrasts the traditional view of curriculum as discipline-based with the progressive view of using experiences to develop thinking skills.
