Q3 Lesson 44 Effects of Force On The Shape of An Object BEVS

Applying force can change the shape of objects. Pushing, pulling, pounding, bending, twisting, and stretching are some ways force can alter an object's form. For example, hammering metal shapes it, twisting a rubber band deforms it, and squeezing a sponge squishes it flat. Force is thus able to change an object's dimensions or configuration depending on how it is applied.

Report of output by the
pupils.
1. What did you apply when you hammer,
bend, stretch or crumple an object?
2. What happened to an object when force
is applied on an object? Why?
3. From what you experiences, what can
force do?

Answer
4. Sum up the lesson by
completing the sentence below:

Answer

fingers, hand, etc.
2. The shape of an object changed
because force can change the shape of

3. Force can push, pull, pound,
compress, bend, twist, tear, stretch or
squeeze.
4. When force is applied on an
object, the shape of the objects
changes.
ELABORATION:

The shape of an object changes when

force is applied on it. Pushing, pulling,
pounding, compressing, bending,
twisting, tearing, stretching or
squeezing are some ways of changing
the shape of an object.
Jimmy is taller than his brother. He
used his brother’s t-shirt without
asking permission. It partly fits him.
He stretched the shirt down to his
waist. What do you think would
