2. It took 4.5 hours from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Philippines) to Narita Airport (Japan).
If the route of the place is around 2250 kilometers, what is its speed?

R = 500 km/h

3. Car A left Math City going to English City at an average speed of 40 kilometers per hour.  Two
hours later, Car B traveling 60 kilometers per hour leaves the same place for English City. In how
many hours, will the car B overtake Car A?

Interest Problems
1. Mr. Reyes invested P50,000 at an interest rate of 3% per year. Identify the principal and rate of
interest. Calculate the interest earned after 1 year.

Interest earned after 1 year is P1,500

2. Ms. Gutierrez invested P60,000 at a simple interest of 4% per year for 4 years. Identify the
principal, rate of interest, and time. How much money will Ms. Gutierrez have after four years?

By the end of 4 years, her total money is P69,600

3. Danica invested here money amounting to Php150,000 in a bank that offers a 5% simple interest
every year. She went abroad and never made any deposit or withdrawal in her account. After coming
back, she immediately checked her account and found out that her money got an interest of
Php37,500. How many years was the money invested?

Discount Problems

Marked price – tag price you see on items

Sale price – price you pay after the discount has been made
 
NOTE: In solving discount problems, it is a must to know how
to convert percent to decimals in order to perform the
calculation.
