q2 l4 Systems of Linear Inequalities in Two Variables

This document provides instruction on solving systems of linear inequalities in two variables, including defining systems of linear inequalities, solving systems graphically, and applying systems to word problems involving costs and earnings. Examples show setting up and solving systems of linear inequalities algebraically and graphically, as well as word problems involving costs of items and total amounts.

SOLUTION OF SYSTEMS OF LINEAR
INEQUALITIES IN TWO VARIABLES

The points that satisfy

all the inequalities are
the solution of the
system of linear
inequalities.
EXAMPLE # 1
Determine if , and are
solutions of the systems
and .

y
EXAMPLE # 1
Step 2: Change the inequality symbol into equal
sign.

Step 3: Solve for the values of y.

Step 4: Identify the ordered pairs.

SOLVING PROBLEMS
INVOLVING SYSTEM OF
LINEAR INEQUALITIES IN
TWO VARIABLES
EXAMPLE # 1
Sarah is selling bracelets and earrings to make money for
summer vacation. The bracelets cost Php 20 and earrings cost
Php 30. She needs to make at least Php 5000. Sarah knows
that she will see more than 50 bracelets. How many bracelets
and earrings can Sarah sell?
EXAMPLE # 1

Step 1: Identify the variables.

Step 2: Write the systems of inequalities.

Step 3: Solve the systems of inequality.

EXAMPLE # 1

Answer: Conclusion: Sarah can sell

Bracelets - 50 more than 50 bracelets and
Earrings - 133 more than 133 earrings.
EXAMPLE # 2
Tickets for play cost Php 250 for adults and Php 200 for
children. The sponsor for the show collected a total amount
of not more than Php 34,000 from at least 150 adults and
children who watched the play. How many adults and
children who can watch the play?
EXAMPLE # 2

Answer: Conclusion: Therefore,

Adults - 80 there are 80 adults and 70
Children - 70 children who watch the
play.
EXAMPLE # 3

Mrs. Burgos wants to buy at least 60 kilos of pork and

beef for her restaurant business but can spend no more
than Php 12, 000. A kilo of pork costs Php 180 and a
kilo of beef costs Php 220. How many kilos of pork and
beef she can buy?
EXAMPLE # 3

Answer: Conclusion: Therefore,

Pork – 30 kilos Mrs. Burgos can buy 30
Beef – 30 kilos kilos of pork and 30 kilos
of beef.
EXAMPLE # 4
Ronald needs to earn at least Php 2,500 from his two jobs to cover
his weekly expenses. This week, he can work for at most 50 hours.
His job as a gas station attendant pays Php 52.50 per hour while his
job as a parking attendant pays Php 40 per hour. How many hours
does he work as a gas station attendant and parking attendant?
EXAMPLE # 4
Answer: Conclusion: Therefore, Ronald
Gas Station works 40 hrs. as a gas station
Attendant– 40 attendant and 10 hrs. as a
Parking Attendant – parking attendant.

cup of noodles costs Php 15 while each stick of squid balls
costs Php 10. She only has Php 60 but needs to buy at least
3 sticks of squid balls. How many cup of noodles she can
buy?
ANSWER
