UNIT 2: SELF-

AWARENESS

NSTP GROUP – 2
SELF - AWARNESS
What is Self-Awareness?

Self-awareness is our ability to perceive and understand the

things that make us who we are as an individual, including our
personality, actions, values, beliefs, emotions, and thoughts.

Self-awareness is also knowing our strengths and

weaknesses. Strengths includes our talents, skills, our
accomplishments, areas where we are good at and all the
things that we can do. Weaknesses includes the things that
we lack, where we are not good at, and in areas where we
need to improve on.
NATURE OF SELF
What is nature of self?

Your self is your basic personality or nature, especially considered in

terms of what you are really like as a person. A natural self is
metaphysically dependent on the body from which its states emerge
and upon which they supervene, and it survives no longer than the body
does; but it does not have the same identity conditions as the body, and
neither are the mental states of the self reducible to physical states
of the body. For a body to have a self is for it to have the capacity to
assume a first-person stance, a fact which I see as being closely
associated with the idea that mental states are owned and not merely
occurrent. For a self to have a body is for it to have capacities for
agency and sentience, activities which I claim are criterial to a relation
of common ownership as delimited by normative emotional response
HUMAN AND PERSON
NEEDS
Human needs are commonly used to refer to the drivers
of peoples’ actions, the motives behind human behavior.
Other uses of the concept include needs as instruments
to achieve a certain goal and needs as societal
requirements to flourish or experience a good life
(Gasper, 2004). Needs as motives imply that all human
actions can be understood as originating in the quest for
satisfying or actualizing needs. Needs as societal
requirements concern what is necessary for people to
avoid serious harm and participate in their society,
whether or not they are mobilized by them. Needs as
requirements to achieve a certain outcome like
fulfillment, happiness, or satisfaction fall in between the
two last explanations. They take the elements that
contribute to achieving the goal of a good life (such as
jobs, income, health care, status) as the requirements or
needs for the realization of the goal.
PEROSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

Personality development encompasses the dynamic

construction and deconstruction of integrative
characteristics that distinguish an individual in terms of
interpersonal behavioral traits. Personality development
is ever-changing and subject to contextual factors and
life-altering experiences.
HUMAN RELATION
Presentation title 6

• Human relations movement refers to

the researchers of organizational
development who study the behaviour of
people in groups, particularly in
workplace groups and other related
concepts in fields such as industrial and
organizational psychology.

Why is human relations important? Human

relations is an important part to our career
success. It is defined as relations with or
between people, particularly in a workplace
setting. Because a company depends on good
human relations through its organizational
structure, developing these skills is
important.

Understanding Filipino traits, values, and culture Last updated: April
11, 2022 by Outsource Accelerator Metro Manila, Philippines
UPDATE: Coronavirus (COVID-19) is forcing a lot of companies to
review their traditional staffing, offshore, and work-from-home
(WFH) options. Outsourcing enables businesses to slash costs and,
at the same time, maintain and rebuild their companies. Read our
dedicated COVID-19 articles here: COVID-19 Business Recovery
Action Plan There are plenty of reasons why many businesses prefer
to outsource their processes to BPO companies in the Philippines,
and these include the high linguistic and cultural compatibility
between Filipinos and their clients.
FORMATION VALUES
Value formation is the confluence of our
personal experiences and particular
culture we are entwined in. Values are
imposed from our family in childhood and
reinforced through culture and life
experiences. The value of, for example,
kindness was imposed on me from my
parents, and reinforced throughout early
childhood.
DEVELOPING FILIPINO VALUES
Developing Filipino value Both at the individual
and community level, strong emphasis is placed
on social acceptance and maintaining social
harmony. As such, social approval and caring
about what others will think, say, or do
strongly influence social behavior.
