Security Features of Passport

The Indian passport has several security features to prevent forgery and tampering. These include examination of the passport under visible light, ultraviolet light, transmitted light, and oblique light to analyze security elements like the paper, microprinting, fibers, watermarks, stitching threads, barcodes, letter screen images, fluorescent inks, guilloches patterns, dicuts, and laminations. Stereomicroscopic examination is also used to analyze document numbering, substrate elements, and print processes. These multi-layered security checks make the Indian passport difficult to counterfeit.
