PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A shopping arcade is a type of shopping precinct that developed


earlier and in which the connecting walkways are not owned by
a single proprietor and may be in the open air or covered by a
ground-floor loggia.
A shopping mall is a modern term for a form of shopping
precinct or shopping center in which one or more buildings form
a complex of shops with interconnecting walkways, usually
indoors. The mall is an incorporate the existing vegetation and
behave as a public access level with collective activities for
leisure and recreation that promotes the interaction of
different communities. The project describes about the actual
load it carries and the potential of the slabs, beams and
columns. Also , correct provisions of the required structural
dimensions are also provided to maintain the strength of the
mall.
PROJECTS IMPORTANCE
 Shopping malls are playing key role in modern retailing and
marketing system, furthermore they still dominate the distribution
system of goods. In the modern world a consumer expecting best
service within a short time and under one shelter. Shopping malls
full fill this requirement of the consumer. These shopping malls not
only containing shops but also providing other important services
such as bank and libraries. The structure of the commercial building
is very important to attract the customers. It will increase the
demand of the building and the value.
 Nowadays a modern shopping mall provides the vast range of
entertainment for the consumer such as restaurants. Also the mall
is provided with seminar halls, women development section,
education section, offices, lounges, guest room, pantry. Well, the
area provides entire service at one place and is convenient for the
public.
PROJECT JUSTIFICATION
 The justification process takes place once a significant project
need has been identified. It assists on creating an organizational
structure. Here, commercial building is a common facility or a
simply real estate property that is utilized for a business purpose.
Any piece of real estate that is used for business operations and
activities constitutes Business property, whether it is simply bare
land or it is improved with buildings and other facilities.
 Commercial buildings are subjected to burden of different tax
and financial rules along with Business activities. Hence, the
expenditure on maintenance can be minimized if economical
designed is adopted with seismic resistance.
 The daily life time is often spent in business buildings with many
occupants working on it. Consideration of value of risk, we can
mix technical and engineering methodologies that avoids damage
and failure.
 The commercial building is concerned with country's
economy .Therefore , its strength and efficiency of the
structural design must be considered safely.
 It enables us to get knowledge and research and implement
management of resources and budget analysis and
distribution.
 The commercial building is ought to be long lasting and
economically feasible, Hence, careful and proper deigning
of components of the building as per the prescribed code is
essential in order to avoid the economic loss and make it
convenient for further repair and maintenance.
 Our country lies in seismically vulnerable zone, hence it is
essential to focus even the future stability and safety in
light of uncertainty of occurrence of earthquakes for the
business building.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES

 To attain practical field knowledge and skill as well as learn the


application of 4year course in decision making, designing , analyzing,
calculating, estimating, and executing the project.
 The building analyzed and designed in this project is commercial or
business purpose,
 To learn the effect of seismic force on the building and wys to
overcome them to enhance safety by load calculations.
 To gain knowledge about detail designing method of building under
economic scenario,
 To learn the language of building drawings and its minute detailing
along with detailing of components of buildings like column ,
beam ,slab , etc.
 To achieve the competence in decision making and selection of feasible
choices during building construction
 To learn design, sectional design, modelling, and calculations through
software like SAP, ETABS,AUTOCAD.
