It is located at Deoband, a town in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It was founded in 1866 by several prominent Islamic scholars (Ulema), headed by Maulana Muhammad Qasim Nanotvi. The other prominent founding scholars were Maulana Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi and Haji Saiyyid 'Abid Husaiyn. A large group of scholars at the Darul Uloom Deoband had opposed the establishment of a state established along sectarian lines, particularly the demands of Muhammad Ali Jinnah's Muslim League for the Partition of British India into Muslim and non-Muslim sections Maulana Husain Ahmad Madani was one of the scholars who opposed the idea of Pakistan. He was also Shaiykhul-Hadees (Chief of Faculty) of Darul Uloom Deoband and led the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, an organization of the 'Ulama, that saw nothing Islamic in the idea of Pakistan. He said: "All should Endeavour jointly for such a democratic government in which Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Parsis are included. Such a freedom is in accordance with Islam. The Anjuman-e-Himayat-e-Islam: انجمنحمایتاسالم is an Islamic intellectual and political organisation based in Lahore, Pakistan. Founded in the late 19th century, the body is composed of Muslim intellectuals and politicians seeking to reform Muslim society and work on its development. Some of its most prominent members included the poet Sir Muhammad Iqbal, who recited his first poems at sessions of the Anjuman. Sindh Madrasa was founded in 1 September 1885 by Hassan Ali Effendi, a Sindhi of Turkish origin who settled in Karachi. It began to become popular with mainly Muslims of Sindh including Baloch. It is modeled on the British public school system. The founding father of Pakistan, Mohammed Ali Jinnah studied there. Sindh Madressatul Islam is one of the oldest modern Muslim educational institutions in South Asia. It was founded on September 1, 1885 in Karachi, with the objective to impart modern education to the people of Sindh. It was founded by a group of Sindhi Muslim visionaries led by Khan Bahadur Hassan Ali Effendi, the great grandfather of President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari. By 1895, with the untiring efforts of Hassan Ali Effendi, the institution had fully developed into a very well functioning high school with three primary branches that taught in Sindhi. The Quran classes were regularly conducted in the prayer halls. Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi (Urdu: احمد رضاخان ب ریلوی, 1856–1921 CE or 10 October 1272__25 February 1340 AH , born & died Bareilly, UP), known as Aala Hazrat, was a Hanafi Sunni who founded the Barelvi movement of South Asia. Raza Khan wrote on numerous topics, including law, religion, philosophy and the sciences. He was a prolific writer, producing nearly 1,000 works in his lifetime. Islamia College Peshawer Is a renowned educational institution located in the city of Peshawar in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It was founded in October 1913 by regional leader Nawab Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum and then Chief Commissioner of the province Sir George Roos-Keppel in an effort to provide quality education to the region's youth. Today, the college educates its students in arts, humanities and modern sciences. In 1950 University of Peshawar was founded as an offshoot of Islamia College Peshawar, with the later being associated to the university as a constituent college. In the year 2008 the college was given the status of a chartered university, with Mr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan appointed as its first Vice Chancellor.
