Group 5 Module 4 PEE

1) The group discussed their reflections on completing the bio game and carbon quest activities. They found the games to be informative and enjoyable ways to learn while having fun. 2) They then summarized the key points from the climate change film, including that human activities are the main driver of climate change due to fossil fuel emissions. Understanding this impact is important for cooperating on solutions. 3) Each member shared the results of their individual ecological footprint calculations. Most had footprints exceeding the global biocapacity of 1.8 hectares per person, requiring more than 1 planet's worth of resources. This highlighted the need to reduce consumption and waste.

Agenda
• To discuss the reflection of the
group (Bio Game)
• To tackle the summarized answers of
the Group in Activity No.2.
• To discuss the answers of the group
in Ecological Footprint
Activity #1
Even though it take some time finishing these activities, these games are very
satisfying especially the information and knowledge that we’ve learned. In the first
activity, we learned a lot on doing the carbon quest in which it guides and taught
us on how does carbon dioxide is used in order for the living things to survive. It
also shows the different destination that the carbon dioxide can be used either in
atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere or hydrosphere. While the second game is different
from the first activity that we’ve accomplished. It taught us the factors that are
needed to consider in order to successfully travel in the planet mars. It is like we
are literally travelling and preparing our ship for our space adventure. This made us
realize the importance of abiotic and biotic factors in our planet. Even the number
of species, the amount of sunlight and temperature must also include to sustain and
balance the biodiversity inside the ship. We hope many students will know this game
and we will be happy to share this game to other students who wants to learn
more about the biodiversity. It’s a great idea to have this kind of online game for
students who want to play fun games while learning.

Significance & Insights in the Film

Activity 3: Ecological Footprint
Javellana, Danilo

In my ecological footprint, I have more than the total available resources

of 1.8 hectares per person because I have 7 hectares per person and that is
over the maximum biocapacity of earth.
Activity 3: Ecological Footprint
Labendia, Angela May

In my ecological footprint, I have more than the total available resources

of 1.8 hectares per person because I have 3.8 hectares per person and that
is over the maximum biocapacity of earth. If everyone lived like me, 2.3
Earths are needed and I think it is too much.
Activity 3: Ecological Footprint
Lerpido, Kriza May

3.4 earth planets my footprint need. I got this result because I

consumed too much resource and generate waste compared to how fast
nature can absorb our waste and generate resources. My earth’s biocapacity is
5.6 hectares while the average per person is only 1.8 hectares, I exceed 3.8
hectares. It means I’m living my everyday life like a three people and not
knowing its bad to our planet. It can cause over.
Activity 3: Ecological Footprint
Llanza, Janine J.

I need 4 planets for my footprint result. I consumed much in food includes

not only the plant or animal matter people eat or waste in the household.
When it comes on my earth’s capacity, I got 6.5 hectares equivalent of three
people living like me. It can cause running the “ecological deficit”. When a
country’s biocapacity is greater than its population’s ecological footprint on the
other hand, the country boasts an “ecological reserve”
Activity 3: Ecological Footprint
Lubian, Christine Joy P.
Based on the results I got in the Foot Print
Calculator, if everyone lived like me, 2.5 Earths are
needed. I think I get this kind of result because based
on my answers in the quiz, we are only 6 people living
in our house with 97 m2/ 1043 sq. ft. My ecological
footprint based on the footprint calculator is 4 global
hectares or gha. If my footprint calculator results
which is 4 gha will be compared to earth’s biocapacity
which 1.8 hectares per person, I think 2 persons can
accommodate my gha and I think mine was too much
compared to the given biocapacity and it is 2.2 gha
greater. It is very alarming because I thought our
home’s space is enough but then I realize it was too
much if I will use Earth’s biocapacity as my basis.
Activity 3: Ecological Footprint
Mabunga, Cyril John

3 Earths are needed when everyone lived like me and I think it is I

consume too much resources and produce waste compared to how fast nature can
captivate our waste and generate resources. My earth’s biocapacity is 4.9 hectares
while the average per person is only 1.8 hectares. This result means my gha is
twice larger than the earth’s biocapacity.
