TLE7 EIM Week 4 3rd Q Analyzing Symbols and Data

This document discusses electrical signs, symbols, and technical drawings used in electrical installation and maintenance. It defines common electrical symbols used to represent devices in schematic diagrams and plans. Examples of electrical symbols, signs indicating electrical hazards, and different types of circuit diagrams are shown. The document also discusses interpreting technical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, electrical plans and providing an example of matching symbols to their labels. Students are assigned to evaluate an electrical plan diagram by counting fixtures and completing a table. [/SUMMARY]

LEARNING COMPETENCIES TO
BE DEVELOPED
• Analyze signs, electrical symbols and data.
(TLE_IAEI7/8ID0e-1)

• Interpret technical drawings and plans (TLE_IAEI7/8ID0e-2)

WHAT ARE ELECTRICAL
SYMBOLS?
• Electrical Symbols are small drawings or pictograms used to
represent various electrical devices in a diagram or plan of an
electrical circuit.
• These symbols are used in sketching schematic diagrams and
electrical plans for numerous types of electrical works.

ELECTRICAL SIGNS

ELECTRICAL
HAZARD indicates that
electrical hazard is
present in the area.

VOLTAGE DANGER
indicates high
voltage in the area and
surrounding
equipment.

PLANS

• Pictorial diagram is a sketch of

electrical circuit that shows the external
appearance of each component.

ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAM

Schematic diagram is a sketch showing the components of the circuit using standard
electrical symbols.

It shows the actual number of components and how the wiring is routed but not the actual
location.
TYPES OF CIRCUIT
• Series Circuit
is a circuit in which lamps are arranged
in a chain, so that the current has only
one path to take.
Current is the same in each load but the
voltage varies.
• Parallel Circuit
is a circuit in which lamps are
connected across the wires.
Voltage is the same in each load but the
current varies
ELECTRICAL PLAN
• Electrical plan is a
graphical
presentation of
electrical wiring
connections to
install in a
particular house or
building.
