What Is A Design Brief
The Design Brief is the starting point of a project or manufacturing task. It usually contains
general information about what is needed, who the product is intended for and any obvious
constraints.

Remember: The design brief is a simple statement of what you

intend or are asked to do.

Task
V-Fold Mechanisms

V-folding mechanisms are very popular and they are simple to make. Construct the pop-up
section by adding tabs to a rectangular piece of card. The tabs are glued to the backing card
remembering that the angle must be selected carefully.

1. Create your own V-Fold practice card

2. Stick your card in to your book

3. Write out the steps you undertook to

Extension
Experiment with the more complex v-folds (acute-angle, pointed and layers).
