→ Disasters are serious
disruptions to the
functioning of a
community that exceed its
capacity to cope using its
own resources. Disasters
can be caused by natural,
man-made and technological
hazards, as well as various
factors that influence the
exposure and vulnerability
of a community.
Types Of Disasters
These types of disasters include:
Floods.
Wildfires.
Earthquakes.
Drought.
Tornadoes and Severe
Storms.
→ Tornadoes are outgrowths of
powerful thunderstorms
that appear as rotating,
funnel-shaped clouds. They
extend from a thunderstorm
to the ground with violent
winds that average 30 miles
per hour. Also, they can vary
in speed dramatically from
being stationary to 70 miles
per hour
→ A flood is an overflow of
water that submerges land
that is usually dry. In the
sense of "flowing water", the
word may also be applied to
the inflow of the tide. Floods
are an area of study of the
discipline hydrology and are
of significant concern in
agriculture, civil engineering
and public health.
→ An earthquake is the
shaking of the surface of
the Earth resulting from a
sudden release of energy
in the Earth's lithosphere
that creates seismic
waves.
→ A drought is an event of
prolonged shortages in
the water supply, whether
atmospheric, surface
water or ground water. A
drought can last for
months or years, or may
be declared after as few
as 15 day

5 Causes Of Natural Disasters
→ Flood control
infrastructure, such as
levees, seawalls, and tide
gates, work as physical
barriers to prevent areas
from flooding. Other
measures, such as pump
stations and channels,
help reduce flooding.
