INTRODUCTION
Power Line Communication (PLC) is a technology that allows powerlines
to be used for data communication by transferring data over existing
powerlines.
PLC technology use existing electrical power lines as a transmission
medium to provide data communications capabilities by coupling
modulated carrier signal onto the power line
The rising ubiquity of data transmission has resulted in a fast growing need
for more bandwidth in the home and office during the last few years. The
hunt for novel ways to transmit data has led to the development of Power
Line Communications (PLC).
4
Introduction Cont’d
Plc attracts attention with communications in smart meters (AMI), home and
industry automation, in-vechile, e.t.c.
The utilization of PLC for local area networking in homes and offices is the
motivation for this project.
Error correction and detection codes will be implemented in the PLC system,
which would help reduce bit errors during transmission, thereby reducing
errors in the channel.
5
5
PROBLEM STATEMENT
In PLC various loads are connected to the same channel which delivers
power and data simultaneously.
Linked loads are important causes of channel noise which leads to the
problem of missing data packets during transmission.
The problem is that a high bit error rate (BER) degrades data transmission
quality and jeopardizes the PLC system's usability.
