INTRODUCTION
Land development refers to altering the landscape in any number
of ways like changing landforms from a natural or semi-natural
state for a purpose such as housing or subdividing real estate into
lots, typically for the purpose of building homes.
PURPOSE
Purpose of land development is to make the environment more useful and comfortable for
humanity.
Must be done in an organized and planned manner which help in development of city.
Most often must be able to create a profit.
Must meet political economic and aesthetics, while maintaining solid engineering principles.
Land development may be undertaken for any type of land use: industrial, commercial (offices,
retail), public or residential uses.
Land development is essential for a community's success.
It can generate more jobs, bring desired curb appeal, unite community members, and maintain or
increase home values.
