Energy Plus: Performance & Energy Evaluation Saffa Roshan PM
EnergyPlus is a whole building energy simulation program used by engineers and architects to model energy and water consumption in buildings. It is a free and open-source program developed by the U.S. Department of Energy that runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux and calculates building heating, cooling, and energy loads based on user descriptions of buildings and systems.

ENERGY PLUS
Performance & Energy Evaluation
Saffa Roshan PM WHAT IS ENERGY PLUS EnergyPlus is a whole building energy simulation program that engineers, architects, and researchers use to model both energy consumption—for heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and plug and process loads—and water use in buildings. EnergyPlus is a console-based program that reads input and writes output to text files. EnergyPlus is an energy analysis and thermal load simulation program. EnergyPlus is free, open-source, and cross-platform It runs on the Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems. Its development is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Building Technologies Office (BTO). Along with OpenStudio, EnergyPlus is part of BTO’s building energy modeling program portfolio. Based on a user’s description of a building from the perspective of the building’s physical makeup, associated mechanical systems, etc., EnergyPlus will calculate the heating and cooling loads necessary to maintain thermal control setpoints, conditions throughout an secondary HVAC system and coil loads, and the energy consumption of primary plant equipment as well as many other simulation details that are necessary to verify that the simulation is performing as the actual building would.
