Presentation of Learning -
EdTech 479 Nicholas Weber Then and Now Academic Goals: To become a better educator in terms in incorporating technology into my Elementary classroom.
Reflection: This class accomplished exactly that. Going into
it I had no idea how many resources there were for younger students. Within the EdTech platforms I was familiar with, there are so many new ones to try out.
Character Goals: To teach my class how to responsibly use
the internet and its resources.
Reflection: This was a big thing I accomplished in class.
From misinformation to digital responsibility, I learned everything I need to know in order to ensure my future students stay safe and have fun online. Reflection #1 - “TRUST ME” Manipulation Presentation
● Personally I found this to be my favorite and most
proud work of the semester. I thoroughly enjoyed the prompt of studying misinformation on the internet. Prior to this class, misinformation had been something I studied in my free time. Comparing different media outlets especially, led me to including a clip from Vice’s “Bernie Blackout” which exposes https://docs.google.com/pres entation/d/1mZCT64FVz_MU news channels. My passion drove this assignment NrOFzqlABKmqQq0yDe4Kg Lnc45vCosc/edit#slide=id.p LT : I can investigate a key aspect of manipulation and explain it to others via a mini-presentation.
What Went Well? What Didn’t go Well?
●Executed the learning target, and the outcome of a presentation ● Potentially insinuating ●Used unique sources from real life political bias events ● Didn’t use many primary ●Taught classmates new information sources
Key Takeaways : I thoroughly completed this assignment with
motivation based on my past knowledge and learning. Although I used a political video, it was perfect for the scenario. I could’ve used more sources but overall I shared new information and statistics with my peers. Reflection #2 - Blog ● I can admit that my blog and its posts weren’t as well as I wanted them to be. Research isn’t my favorite thing to do https://fixnicks.weebly.com/ and compiling sources is something I’m still working on. Being thorough in work was something I failed at. These posts are a grow area for me. Too many times I drew from experience and not LT : I can create a blog to explore and share emerging EdTech topics by writing brief and informative blog posts.
What Went Well? What Didn’t go Well?
●I created blog posts that shared information with peers. ● A lack of information ●I used the most useful websites to ● Drawing too much from personal experience add to my information ● Didn’t use the best sources ● Blog was plain without “spice” Key Takeaways : I wasn’t motivated for this assignment. I prefer speech over writing. I felt like my information was repetitive and I didn’t accomplish much. If I were to do this again I’d want to make my blog more personal instead of a generic page. How am I? How was the Semester? ● As an individual I’m on track to Challenges : It wasn’t easy… graduate in 4 years and become a ● Mental health wasn’t a great licensed teacher thing, I was lonely ● Exploring Durango this past year has ● I began connected with opened my eyes to so many people, easing this as my opportunities, I’ve connected more social anxiety was high at times with peers and teachers as well - ● Balancing school, athletics, talking more. and work was a task I saw as ● I’m getting ready to begin Immersion impossible… until I 1. successfully did it Learning and Teaching - The Direction of my Future
This class has taught me a lot. The world of
EdTech is growing every day and I want to incorporate it as a positive in my classroom. Online responsibility is big, I want to ensure my students are responsible online, it’s the only way to stay safe. I hope my school is well-funded, as I’ve learned in this class it can be difficult to get necessary materials, but I’ll fight for it.
