COORDINATING CONJUNCTION
A conjunction which makes a connection between two parallel words, two
parallel phrases, or independent clauses is called a coordinating conjunction.
The coordinating conjunctions are and, but, or,
as well as, for, so, yet, etc.
Examples of Coordinating Conjunction:
- Robin and Russel went the beach.
- Sleep now or you will miss the class tomorrow.
- Robin did not try hard so he did not succeed.
- He is sad but not broken.
- Rita, as well as Shaun, came here yesterday.
SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTION
Subordinating conjunctions are conjunctions that are used at the beginning of
subordinate clauses. The subordinating conjunction are; although, after, before,
because, how, if, once, since, so that, until, unless, when etc.
Examples of Subordinating Conjunction:
- He came to work, although he felt sick.
- Call me after you arrive at the station.
- I need to finish the report before the manager arrives from Paris.
- They stopped building the house because it was raining hard.
- Tell me how you persuaded Danny to see that film.
- If I receive a promotion, you will be the first to know.
