This study investigates the strength and machining properties of composites made from carbon, Kevlar, basalt, and glass fibers using hand layup and vacuum bagging. The composites will be tested for tensile strength and fatigue. The influence of conventional drilling and non-conventional abrasive waterjet machining will also be examined. Composites were manufactured by hand laying up fibers in a mold in layers with epoxy resin and hardener and allowing them to cure. Mechanical properties testing and machining experiments are still to be conducted.

ABSTRACT
This work is to evaluate the mechanical properties of carbon
kevlar basalt and glass fabric fiber reinforced composites will be
fabricated using hand lay up and vacuum bagging technique.

The mechanical properties of the four FRP Composites will be

evaluated using tensile test and fatigue.
The influence of two machining process mainly conventional –
drilling and non conventional -Abrasive water jet machining

Epoxy resins, also known as polyepoxides, are a class
of reactive prepolymers and polymers which contain
epoxide groups. Epoxy resins may be reacted (
cross-linked) either with themselves through catalytic
homopolymerisation, or with a wide range of co-
reactants including polyfunctional amines, acids (and
acid anhydrides), phenols, alcohols

• Hand lay up
• It is an open molding method suitable for making a wide
variety of composites products from very small to very large.
Production volume per mold is low; however, it is feasible to
produce substantial production quantities using multiple
molds. Hand lay-up is the simplest composites molding
method, offering low cost tooling, simple processing, and a
wide range of part sizes. Design changes are readily made. T
